About
I’m Corey Pollard, a Virginia trial lawyer for injured people, disabled adults and children, and accident victims with Jenkins Block & Associates, founded in 1977. The Firm’s legacy speaks for itself. I’ve had the opportunity at Jenkins Block & Associates to help people in their time of need. Most of my cases involve either: (1) a seriously injured worker who faces permanent disability and wage loss; (2) a disabled adult whose combination of physical and mental health impairments prevents him or her from working full-time; (3) a disabled child whose medical condition prevents him or her from functioning at the same level as peers; or (4) a negligently caused serious injury arising out of a car accident or tractor-trailer accident. Many of our cases come from other lawyers who know we can handle the complex nature of Virginia workers’ compensation and Social Security disability claims, health care providers, and past clients for whom we have obtained fair compensation and disability benefits. Many of the cases I handle involve more than one area of law. The rules and regulations that govern Virginia workers compensation, Social Security disability, Long-term disability, personal injury, and employment law matters are connected. For example, if you are injured in a car accident while on the job, you have rights under the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Act and Virginia personal injury laws. If the accident causes severe injuries that restrict you to light duty, your employer must comply with federal employment laws. And if your accident prevents you from returning to work, you may be entitled to Social Security disability benefits. This interaction between workers’ comp, disability, injury, and employment law is why I limit my practice to these areas. I’ll use every available legal option to get you the payment you deserve.I like helping people get justice under the law, and I like to write about the law. Educating injured workers, disabled adults, accident victims, employees, and labor union members about their legal rights is important to me. I’m the author of An Injured Employee’s Guide to Virginia Workers’ Compensation, which you can get a copy of by sending me an email. I’m also the author of an extensive website and blog, which you’re reading right now. Because of my legal writing, I’m often contacted by other attorneys and members of the general public to answer questions about legal issues in Virginia workers’ compensation, FMLA, and Social Security disability claims. I enjoy spending time with my wife, Leigh, our dog, Simba, and playing basketball and golf. When I’m in the mood for punishment, I cheer on my favorite football team, the Washington Redskins. My BackgroundBorn and raised in Newport News, Virginia, I traveled down Interstate-64 to earn my Bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from the College of William & Mary, where I was a varsity swimmer. I earned my law degree, cum laude, from the University of Richmond School of Law. In law school I served on the Client Counseling & Negotiation Board, the Richmond Journal of Law and the Public Interest, and and was selected as a teaching assistant in Legal Research and Writing.I began my legal career as an associate attorney with Whitt & Del Bueno, a workers’ compensation and liability defense firm that represents many of Virginia’s largest employers and insurers. But representing insurance companies and employers who put profits over people was not how I wanted to spend my career. That’s why I switched to plaintiffs’ work and ran Dozier Internet Law Firm, a boutique litigation firm that represented people like you in internet defamation, copyright, and trademark matters, before joining Jenkins Block & Associates.Legal Advice DisclaimerI am a licensed attorney in Virginia. I do provide legal advice, but only to my clients – people who have a written retainer agreement with me – and I will not provide legal advice through this website. Please do not act on anything you read on the internet. Though I might write about a legal issue that is relevant to the facts of your case and your situation, my articles should not be considered legal advice. High-quality, professional legal advice requires an in-depth discussion with you about your case, an investigation into all relevant facts – good and bad, and research into the relevant statutes and case laws.Let’s Work Together to Win Your CasePlease give me a call at 804-251-1620 or email me at [email protected] to see how we can help you resolve your work injury, disability, personal injury, or labor and employment law case. Let’s get started together on your road to financial, emotional, and physical recovery.

I was referred to Mr. Pollard by another attorney in town. He was very responsive to all of my questions and resolved the case in just a few months. I would recommend Mr. Pollard to other workers who are injured.
I had been dealing with the insurance company since my work injury three years ago. They offered me a low settlement so I contacted Mr. Pollard. He got me a settlement offer for 4 times as much in under a month.
Mr. Pollard did a good job in my workman's comp case. Very satisfied with the outcome. Won at hearing before a judge in Richmond and then got a lump sum settlement four months later.
I was nervous for my disability hearing but Mr. Pollard worked with me for several months before hand and let me know what to expect. We went to the hearing and at the end the judge gave me a favorable bench decision. I would recommend Mr. Pollard and his firm.
I injured my knee at work. Mr. Pollard helped me navigate through vocational rehabilitation and settle my case for more than I thought was possible.
Attorney Pollard represented me in a workers' compensation case. He returned all of my calls promptly and explained the process and how he evaluated the case. He was able to settle the case so that I received a large lump sum and continued medical care.
This gentleman and his office made major mistakes in my case. They neglected to file important paperwork in a timely fashion. This caused me additional unnecessary damages and financial hardship. We had several doctors complain that he would not call them back after numerous attempts to get in contact with him. Corey’s office would ask me to do many things that his office should have done. For example, he asked me to get a letter from a doctor. The doctor was not sure what exactly was needed. The doctor asked Corey to contact him. After several weeks, the doctor said Corey still hadn’t contacted him, even though we provided the doctor’s contact information several times to Corey and kept reminding him. He made me do a great deal of extra work and made me spin my wheels. We also didn’t get to speak with him until after we hired him. Before that, we had to interview with several assistants, Briana and April. These representatives gave us conflicting information and then I was treated poorly for following their instructions. Then we were transferred to a paralegal in another state. Hiring this firm was the worst decision of my life and I can’t in good conscience recommend Corey to anyone. I’m embarrassed to bring this up, but his hands were shaking with nerves in the courtroom.
I would never recommend this attorney to anyone, his attitude was very nasty towards me never kept me informed as to what was going on with my case. Never shakes his clients hand which I find to be very rude.
Mr. Pollard never kept me informed about my case, never shook my hand but shook the opposing attorney's hand. Supposedly he was a germaphobe. Do not have this man represent you. The only time I was informed was the day before my court case. He gave up on my case after he got paid from the court and didn't want to appeal my case a 2nd time. Overall he didn't believe me therefore he didn't even try to win the case for me.
