Colleen helped me resolve an issue with my adult daughter who I have been estranged from for 6 years now and she has kept me from seeing my 3 grandchildren. My daughter tried to bring a PPO against me for trying to reach out to her with a card in hopes she would have a change of heart. I was served notice to appear in court. I hired Colleen. She took my case and had my best interest at heart - she kept this from happening and in turn talked my daughter's attorney into working on a Mutual Civil Restraining Order instead - this would have no criminal implications. Colleen was very proactive and got things done. She was successful in what she attempted to do and saved me from having to appear in a nasty court battle with my daughter or having any criminal charges brought against me. I hope to hire Colleen again in the near future in an attempt to try and see my daughter and come to some sort of a relationship. She was wonderful!! Highly recommend her!!
Colline did a great job for me. I didn't know all of my rights or how the court would view my desires for custody or division of assets. She gave direct feedback about the process and managed my expectations, both up and down. Her expertise and willingness to fight for me reduced a lot of anxiety during the divorce proceedings. I'd highly recommend her.
My husband and myself had an attorney prior to Colline. It was a terrible experience. We came across Colline by referral.. and we have been more than pleased with everything she has done, and with her as a person as well. Colline took on a case for us that most lawyers turned their heads from. It was difficult, time consuming, and tiring... but she took it on and did so happily. She is very professional and when you ask her a question she has the answer and is ALWAYS there to answer. We have been to court with her multiple times and the way she represents my husband and myself is beyond words. I honestly can say that we would of gave up in our case multiple times if it wasn’t for her. I can not put into words just how amazing Colline is. She’s legal representation that I feel like EVERYONE should have. Please, if you are considering retaining a lawyer... contact her. You will not be disappointed I can promise you that!
After speaking to several attorneys I came across Colline DeVries-Burd I hired her turned out to be the best decision I ever made. She went above and beyond for me. I was married 25 years seen many of divorces but that never prepared me for all the ups and downs that came with it. I have memory issues at times but Colline walked me through every step with such compassion and yet faught for me like a BULL on STEROIDS!! It didnt matter how many times I needed things explained to me or answer any questions I had she ALWAYS responded including her assistant Kim. I wholeheartedly had my trust in Colline. When the x husband tried to play dirty they were no match for her. She was very professional and nothing got in her way to fight for me and win. And yet had the compassion to put my mind at rest. To watch her fight for me was truly amazing!! Colline went in having my back and I left patting hers!!! I couldnt of had a better attorney!! Forever Grateful Michelle 2020.
When I was faced with choosing a lawyer for my divorce, I did what anyone should do and asked for referrals and recommendations. Colline was suggested as a good start because of her involvement with family law and mens rights. Our consultation was direct and spot on. Her understanding and questions opened a great dialog and thoughts to upcoming steps. Initially we had a couple of technical hiccups that caused me to second guess my choice. With in a week I was at ease and comfortable with direction and commitment I saw. Throughout the process, communications took time (as they will); I like a lot of details and did at times find it difficult to get my point heard. After learning that I was getting 5 steps ahead I learned to trust the process and with her guidance learned to stop the fires before they could start. Hands down the most direct and to the point person that shows understanding; but will stop you in your tracks if you get off topic. Based on other peoples comments; she is a fighter, if she needs to be. I caught a glimpse of that during our settlement; she was not falling for the emotional play. I can not recommend her enough.
Colline did a great job with my divorce case. She was careful, assertive, and provided great service overall.
Having already gone through the divorce process with a different lawyer I was left feeling taken advantaged of, underrepresented, just a dollar sign, and had a distrust in lawyers in general. Knowing that I would need representation again in the future related to custody issues I needed to find another attorney. I remembered an attorney that spoke at Second Saturday, an informational workshop for women dealing with divorce. Colline was the lawyer that spoke about the legal issues related to divorce and her passion and expertise struck me then enough for me to remembered her years later. I felt understood and safe with Colline and this was so no easy task because of my prior experience with attorneys. She took the time to understand my case and situation more than anyone had done previously. She not only has impressive knowledge with family court and custody she also understands and is sensitive to the personal aspect of your case. Colline knew when to give me straight facts, that at times was challenging to hear and also when to be empathize with me as person and mother. Her abilities to represent me in the court room were just as impressive as some of her other qualities already mentioned. She was prepared and organized with all the details of my case but what I valued even more was her passion to make sure my daughters and I had the best chance at a life without consent fear. My case was not a simple and I was consistently amazed at her drive to represent me in the best way possible. Colline was able to overcome what seemed like impossible barriers that allowed me to have the best outcome with my custody arrangement. Having Colline on my side was the only thing that allowed me to not break during the most stressful time in my life. For this reason alone I recommend her to anyone that wants an attorney that will always put forth extreme effort, has impressive knowledge and judgement with the law, and cares deeply about you as a person. You will never feel like a dollar sign when Colline is your attorney.
I almost hate to give her a good review. She's pretty busy already and I don't want to share, kidding, She's an awesome attorney, down to earth and practical and I'm not a fan of lawyers. There are a lot of slimy, dirty, money grubbin' liars, oops I mean lawyers especially in the shitshow that is family law. Colline is none of that. A true diamond in the rough.
