Attorney Colleen L. Sahlas received her Juris Doctor degree in May, 2000, from the John Marshall Law School and after passing the bar exam upon first examination, she was admitted to practice law in Illinois in November, 2000. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota.Mrs. Sahlas joined her father’s firm in January, 2000, and became a partner in 2006. Prior thereto, Mrs. Sahlas clerked for a private insurance defense firm in Chicago’s loop and interned with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office prosecuting as a student attorney in several trials, prevailing in all.For nearly 20 years, Mrs. Sahlas has focused her legal practice in business, real estate, estate planning, guardianships of minors and disabled adults, and decedents’ estates including trust and estate administration, small estate affidavits, and Illinois probate in Cook and DuPage Counties.Mrs. Sahlas is passionate about helping those who have lost a loved one and guiding them through the legal maze of trust and estate administration. Her goal is to compassionately assist her clients through complex legal issues during a time of grief. Since 2000, Mrs. Sahlas has handled numerous, complex probate estates, trust administration and decedent’s estates.Mrs. Sahlas has recently been published with the elite American Bar Association’s Probate & Property Magazine for her knowledge in real estate law. She has authored a dozen articles published on trust administration, probate and real estate with the Illinois State Bar Association’s Trusts and Estates Newsletter and Real Property Newsletter. She is the Managing Editor of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Trusts and Estates Newsletter. She is serving her 5th term on the Illinois State Bar Association’s Trusts and Estates Council, which is influential in proposing changes to State legislation, and educates Illinois Attorneys through its newsletter and continuing legal education courses. Mrs. Sahlas is also a member of the DuPage County Estate Planning Council.Mrs. Sahlas has represented innumerable buyers and sellers in residential real estate transactions. She is a registered title insurance agent with Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company, Fidelity National Title Insurance Company, and is a member of the Illinois Real Estate Lawyer’s Association.Mrs. Sahlas has had over 30 years of classical vocal training as a Mezzo-Soprano and is a 3rd year member of the professional Chicago Choral Artists. She has previously sung 7 seasons as a member/soloist with the historic Apollo Chorus of Chicago. She also enjoys serving at her church; traveling with her husband; studying German, Greek, and French; and running with her Brittany Spaniel.
