Mr. Scott is the firm’s managing partner. His key practice areas are prosecution of overtime claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The remainder of his practice focuses on complex litigation, including representation of insureds in disputes with their insurance companies, contractual disputes, and will contests. Mr. Scott also has extensive experience litigating personal injury and worker’s compensation claims for injured parties.Mr. Scott graduated from Mississippi State University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. While at Mississippi State, Mr. Scott was involved in a variety of activities, including Future Business Leaders of America, Student Association Committee on Campus Safety, College Republicans, and the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta. After graduation from Mississippi State, Mr. Scott spent two years working in the cotton fields of West Tennessee before enrolling in the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in the Fall of 2000, from which he graduated Magna Cum Laude. While in school, he was awarded the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence and the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Property I, Evidence, Secured Transactions, Civil Procedure III, and Elder Law.During his tenure at the University of Memphis School of Law, Mr. Scott served as a Comments Editor for the University of Memphis Law Review and authored two published works:1. B.V.T. Lebanon Shopping Center, Ltd. V. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.: Diminution in Fair Market Value - Compensation or Confusion? University of Memphis Law Review Vol. 33, No. 1, Fall of 2002;2. University of Memphis Law Review Vol. 33, No. 4, Summer of 2003.Mr. Scott also served as Treasurer of the Student Bar Association, a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, and a student member of Leo Bearman Sr. Inns of Court, while at the University of Memphis. He was awarded both the Jerome Rosengarten Memorial Scholarship and the Sam Mayar Memorial Scholarship in recognition of his academic achievements.Mr. Scott is admitted to practice before the Tennessee Supreme Court, all Tennessee trial and appellate courts, the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. He has also been admitted pro hac vice various other states.Mr. Scott is a member of the Jackson-Madison County Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He has served on both the Board of Directors and as Secretary for the Young Lawyers Division of the Madison County Bar Association. Currently, Mr. Scott is a member of the Howell Edmonds Jackson Inns of Court.Mr. Scott is married to Ashby Richbourg Scott who is an attorney with Evans & Petree. They have two children.
