About
I was born in Colombia and immigrated to the United States at a very young age. I currently hold dual citizenship. I came to Washington, DC in 2000 on a recess appointment with the Clinton Administration. I worked as Legal Counsel at the International Trade Commission. I had been working in Ann Arbor, Michigan at the time. I went into private practice soon thereafter. I love what I do. The best part of my job is the interactions I have with people I probably would not otherwise meet. We are living in very difficult times when it comes to immigration. The laws are changing fast and it's nearly impossible for someone whose mother tongue isn't English to understand them. It's my job as an immigration lawyer to know the regulations and ensure you take advantage of everything that is available to you so you can remain in this country. I have a little boy, whom I adore beyond belief. He's my only child. Everything that I am, everything that I do, is for him. I hope that when he truly understands what I do for a living he will be proud and want to follow in my footsteps.

I am writing this review because I am a review reader and I know how difficult it is to find a good attorney. Attorney Hines came to me via an acquaintance who had used her services when he was placed in removal proceedings. She was so highly recommended that I felt I could not go wrong. I retained her to do my Citizenship . It wasn’t the work that made her exceptional, I think a lot of attorneys can do that, it was her professionalism and her down to earth nature that made me appreciate her so much. I never felt dismissed or rushed out the door. She works on fixed fees and she will take all your calls, answer all your e-mails and most important of all, her office ensures you get copies of all your filings/records. I have had lawyers who never provided me copies of anything and years later I was wrecking my brain trying to find a receipt number or other. Honestly, I can’t say enough good things about Attorney Hines. One other thing that she did, so I would pass my Citizenship test, that I have never heard any other lawyer do, she did a mock citizenship interview with me. That was so helpful. It made me instantly aware of my weak areas. I am now a Citizen of the United States, thanks to her hard work—- and mine, of course!
This my first time making review. I love my lawyer. One of the things I love about her is she took my calls even when she’s in court during my case. She made me feel like she has everything under control. My case was very complicated and my husband, he passed away in the middle of it. My lawyer knew I would be in my mourning time and renewed my green card so I would not expire. She didn’t charge me for this. She told me I should not worry about these things in such time. . She even visited me to make sure I was ok. I am now a citizen of this great country thank you to her. I am very grateful for finding her. I wish her good fortune.
I had been to many lawyers before I came to see Miss Hines. Most took money from me but failed to help me. When I got Miss Hines' name from a friend who had been her client and spoke highly of her, I immediately called her. She gave me all my options upfront and a plan for moving forward. All without taking a penny from me. She was patient and understanding. I was without status when I went to see her. Today I am a legal permanent resident. She allowed me to make payments. If it wasn't for her, I don't know where I would be today. She gave me hope at a time when I didn't have any. I am so grateful for her.
I was initially using another attorney who kept sending me bills for work he didn't do. I asked around and I was referred to Miss Hines. I liked her instantly. She was direct and honest about my options. I hired her to do my Change of Status. She told me upfront that the chances of getting approved were slim, even though I had been working for the past 10 years and had been approved on an I-140. She said it was because I was out of status by the time the previous attorney filed for Labor Certification. Sure enough I was denied. I was out of options, so I thought. She filed an Asylum petition for me after I told her my reasons for coming to the U.S. She didn't waste any time. I was approved. I am now filing for my Green Card and bringing my wife and kids to the U.S. She was my savior. I would never use another immigration lawyer.
