He also served as a Texas Assistant Attorney General in the Financial Litigation Division, where he was lead counsel on multiple Supreme Court cases and lead trial counsel for an enforcement action against a major insurance company (represented by one of the largest international law firms) that resulted in over $100 million dollars being awarded to Texans.In transitioning that public-service experience to private practice, Chris was a named partner for an employment boutique law firm that is consistently rated a Tier 1 firm by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Law Firms. Personally, Chris has been selected by his lawyer peers as a Texas SuperLawyer® and a Texas Superlawyers Rising Star® (as published by Thomson Reuters). One year, Chris was one of only five lawyers in the State of Texas awarded the distinction in the legal area of Government/Cities/Municipalities.Chris has spoken on legal issues before the National Association of Attorneys General, the Dallas Police Association, the Texas Municipal Police Association, and continuing education groups on whistleblowers, discrimination, employment law, police use of force (including excessive force), and ERISA preemption. He has also been cited as authority on the subject of ERISA preemption in the Boston University Law Review. See 81 B.U. L. REV. 867.Chris is a third-generation Jayhawk. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Kansas in 1995, where he was an Honors Program Student and earned membership in Omicron Delta Kappa, Pi Alpha Sigma, Order of Omega, and several other honor societies. Additionally, he served three terms as a Representative to the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Assembly. Rock Chalk!In 1998, Chris was awarded a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas School of Law. While in law school, he was inducted into the Board of Advocates and selected to UT Law’s 1997 and 1998 Robert F. Wagner National Labor and Employment Moot Court New York Competition Teams.Continuing his service to the community at large, Chris can be found sporting a Shriners’ Fez or helping with a meeting at the Scottish Rite on a monthly basis. He attends the First United Methodist Church in Richardson (6,000+ members), where he has served as a Delegate to the Annual Conference and currently serves on the Strategic Vision Committee. He also participates in the North Dallas/Plano section of Lawyers Helping Lawyers and the Dallas Bar Association. In his free time, Chris and his wife of 19 years are raising two boys in Dallas while he tries to keep an old convertible running. Did we mention he’s an Eagle Scout?
