About

I have always enjoyed fighting on behalf of individuals, and my practice allows me to do that every day. I started out practicing exclusively in criminal defense and post-conviction work, and as my career has grown, I have developed an increased appreciation for other ways I can help protect others, such as Personal Injury litigation. I started practicing law in 2009 in a small suburb called Marietta, Georgia. Very quickly, I outgrew my original space and moved my office to downtown Atlanta, where I successfully represented hundreds of individuals in the Georgia state and federal courts. I later took a position with the Georgia Public Defender Council Appellate Division, where I represented clients on appeal and in post-conviction relief before both the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia, winning reversals for charges ranging from stalking and DUI to Aggravated Assault and Murder.Upon relocating to Charleston, South Carolina, I accepted a position as a trial attorney with the Charleston County Public Defender’s Office. In that role, I earned dismissals of dozens of serious charges, ranging from drug possession to armed robbery. I also conducted numerous jury trials, winning an acquittal for a client charged with murder. Soon after, I made the decision to re-enter private practice. Upon my departure from the public defender office, I accepted a position with the Law Office of Christopher Adams, in downtown Charleston. There, I continued working on state court criminal cases, but also broadened my practice to include federal criminal defense, including federal appeals. After gaining valuable experience in federal court, I chose to start my own practice, with a focus on criminal defense, post-conviction criminal cases, and personal injury litigation.

I could not have asked for a better attorney than Chris Geel. He was diligent, friendly, and put in the extra time and effort to see my case through. If you are considering hiring a federal criminal defense lawyer, hire Chris Geel. His friendly service, stellar reputation, and expert criminal defense work are second to none.

Chris handled my case superbly! He brought sensitivity, patience and punctuality to answering all of my questions and concerns and in helping me understand in layman’s terms the ramifications of each stage of a process new to me. And his professional skills and familiarity with others involved in my case resulted in the best possible outcome - all at a reasonable fee. I highly recommend Chris and his team!

Chris handled the matter quickly and efficiently. Great working relationship with law enforcement, solicitor's office, and bench. Knowledgeable of both official process and unofficial communication to push the matter forward. Good communication with me as client.

You never believe you will find yourself needing to hire a criminal attorney, but if that happens, your best solution to the problem is to hire Chris Geel. In the beginning of our nightmare I called Chris and asked him if he would fight for my child like he was fighting for his own son, he said yes and that is exactly what he did. Chris handled everything, he kept us informed, gave us his time, was patient with me when I asked a million questions and the end results were incredibly positive. He saved my 23 year old son’s future – there are not enough ways to say thank you to him. How do you thank a hero? If you need a lawyer, do not hesitate to hire Mr. Geel, you will not have any regrets.

Christopher came to see me while I was in jail, serving a sentence that I didn't deserve. I had been falsely convicted by a jury because the judge had denied me a fair trial when I chose to defend myself. My previous lawyer had been disinterested to say the least, got his money, and moved on. Mr. Geel was assigned to me to handle my appeal. From the get-go, he was everything you would want in your corner. He listened and went to work. It didn't take long for him to see how I had been screwed and appealed my case downtown. The Court of Appeals agreed and overturned my conviction! Recently, we went before a new judge and settled with a minor traffic violation that he (the judge) was glad to accept. In short, Mr. Geel will go ALL THE WAY for his clients and will not be intimidated!!! I wish I had known him for the initial trial, rather than having to defend myself when the other guy failed me. Good luck to all of you if you have a case pending. As for me, Christopher Geel is the best criminal lawyer I can recommend! Especially if you need someone who's committed to justice and knows the law!

I was referred to Chris Geel by a well-known attorney who simply, did not have the time or desire to represent me. He said there wasn't enough time for him to prepare adequately. He said that Mr. Geel was a graduate of Emory Law School and had previously worked in the D.A.'s office and was a straight shooter. I contacted Mr. Geel and he agreed to meet me the next afternoon. I was immediately relieved by his calm yet affable demeanor. He listened and took copious notes. He never interrupted me as I laid out the facts of my case, instead he waited with a list of questions until the end. He was interested in my background, asked me questions about my personal life but I never felt he was prying. After I answered his questions, he took a few minutes to review his notes before stating his opinion. He was careful not to make any promises. He never showed any cockiness and interestingly, NEVER brought up the subject of money or payment. Finally, i asked what his fees would be and what retainer would be required. You would have thought he was more concerned with helping me than getting paid. There was not a lot of time to prepare and he instantly obtained enough time from the court to request reports and facts from the D.A.'s office. I left the court after that first time pleased that he was able to speak so comfortably to the judge and D.A alike. Chris is a young guy; has a young looking face, but all I could see was someone as cool and confident in those surroundings as some of the other lawyers were that were twice his age.To me, that was very important. I liked the fact that he was young; not so far removed from law school, not so hardened or jaded. I have recently had a couple of hospital stays and I always choose Emory Hospital because it is a TEACHING hospital. Young people practicing medicine with a fresh perspective and fresh ideas. That's what Chris was like in representing me. I never had to track him down to get a status report. When I did call for him, he always made time for me. He made me feel like my case mattered to him; that a positive outcome was important to him. I had encountered a little trouble before and was worried about how it might reflect on my current case. Chris explained to me the various options I had and never pushed me one way or the other. He did, however, make a few suggestions which turned out to be critical in my receiving a favorable decision from the D.A. and the judge. Being a defendant in court with potentially serious ramifications is never easy but Chris Geel was able to navigate those murky waters with me and I'm sure glad he did.
