I had a complex real estate transfer related to property I inherited. Cheri was friendly, competent, fast and affordable. Saved me a bundle in taxes!
Not very happy with her. She did not demand full disclosure of assets by the ex, did not bring up the substantial tax liabilities due that the ex escaped from, and let the ex get away with hundreds of thousands of dollars she stole out of the property before leaving the country and quitting her job. I gave her 2-stars rather than 1 because she did immediately put lis pendens on all relevant properties and demanded the stolen money be put back in escrow. But in the end, she gave it all away to the ex anyway, and unrightfully so. Because of new discoveries, am re-opening the case and should NOT have to do so, had it all been done right. Suggestive of legal negligence.
I used Kadotani’s “services” some years ago. As stated above, she didn’t fight on my behalf. The opposite. She encouraged me to just give in because fighting — for what was due me — would be time-consuming and expensive. She appears not to have the guts to hustle on behalf of her clients in the dog-eat-dog world of divorce, at least not for we three. Caveat emptor: In this instance you are hiring a glorified secretary. Or maybe she feels uncomfortable around emotions? (I am not an overtly emotional person but could it be that she simply chose the wrong kind of law to practice, a branch of law that is weighted with feelings? One other note: Tack her down to a specific date for your following call. She disappeared on me for a couple of months at one point. I wish that such a thing as client/customer reviews was around at the time I was looking for an attorney. At least now we can warn others — or give credit where credit is due. Alas, in my case, kudos are not relevant.
Didn't fight for me at all. I lost miserably to my ex and now am suffering financially and my kids are stuck with a mentally abusive father 50%of the time!!
Ms. Kadotani, did not represent me or fight for my rights. She was checked except when asking for more money. My divorce ended with her basically giving into my ex-husband's lawyer in every aspect of the divorce. I ended up in worse shape than when we started. Women be careful, I thought in hiring a women lawyer she would be an advocate for me but that was not the case. Find a lawyer that will fight and stand up for your rights.
