About

I am a trial lawyer.  That is what I do.  My clients do NOT have to pay me for my services out of their own pocket.  If I take your case, I will make the other side pay my fee -- either as part of a settlement or as part of a verdict or judgment.  I grew up in small town Iowa.  While in school, I drove trucks for a living, worked as a field hand, in a chicken processing plant and even had factory jobs.   I know what its like to work hard for a company making an hourly wage and I saw firsthand how companies and managers can treat good employees poorly -- because of the employees age, sex, race, ethnicity or disability.    It is why I do what I do.

He fought for us against wealthy people and a very big company and won. He is a very good man and VERY sharp attorney.

He represented me in an employment law matter. I was referred to him by another lawyer. He is very honest about the case and the way he sees it. Much more so than the other attorneys I met with who seemed to tell me what I wanted to hear and not what I needed to hear. My regular attorney told me that that should tell me all I needed to know to hire him, so I did. He is hard to get ahold of personally without an appointment, but his assistant is always in the loop and can get your your answers. She is fantastic, very understanding and would update me via phone calls. One thing that was nice was that Mr. Baldwin was VERY diligent about responding via email and will often respond later after his office is closed and he is out of court or meetings with other clients. I liked this. Mr. Baldwin explained the law, how it affected me in my job and what he thought he could do for me. He also did it without asking for any money up front explainig that he only takes cases on contingency and that way it is the employer who has to pay him and not the poor workers. That I really liked because I could not have afforded him. He was very tough with my former employer and was able to get things accomplished, which is all I am allowed to say about it now. WHen I first came to him, he told me what my boss was going to do once I complained and he also outlined what he thought the company would do. I didn't believe him (at the time because I had worked there and some of the managers were my "friends") but he was absolutely correct, it was like he knew what was in their minds. He said its because they all think they are doing something so sneaky nobody will figure it out but that its out of a basic well known playbook for any attorney who does employment law. It was a little scary because he was more than willing to take the case to court and that was intimidating to me. He made it easy and his confidence in me and my case made all the difference. He was also very funny and easy to talk to about what had happened. When I was scared about maybe going to court, he told me that the fact that he was willing to gamble on my case and me was something that should give me confidence because if I didn't win, he wouldn't get paid and that he only takes cases he beleives he will get paid on. That was a real boost. WHile I hope I don't have to use him again, I have already told people with problems on the job to call him. He will tell you what he really honestly thinks about your issue and whether or not you really have a case.

I called 4 lawyers to try to help me. He was the only one that met with me and didn't charge me for it. I truly think Jesus led me there. I was in a bad way after I lost my job and his lady listened to me on the phone and then called me to come in and meet him. I told him what had happened and he asked questions. he is eqsy to talk to and is a regular person. He said that he knew that i was fired because of my age . He told me he would fight for me and he did. I only met with him that day and 2 more times before my case was done and the company had to pay. I spoke more with his lady than him, but she told me what all he was doing for me. So many lawyers are greedy and out for themselves but he was great and he is so funny, he really enjoys going after companies and fixing them for what they did. My family will pray for him always. I don't know how I could have gotten past this without his help. The money let us keep our home and even pay it off. Thank you Kevin!
