Super honest and helpful- got my case settled!
I have consulted with Chance on two occasions during my divorce. Chance was very honest and upfront after meeting with me and reviewing my case. He gave me a few options and actually recommended that since my case was fairly straight-forward that the most cost effective solution was to consult with him as opposed to actually hiring him. He has been very good at explaining things in a simple way and is very calming, not letting my emotions get in the way of making prudent decisions. I am very happy with the choice I made.
After meeting Chance we realized he would be a great fit for what we wanted to accomplish. He heard what we said and responded accordingly. Even after he had to explain the simplest things to me over and over, he remained consistent and kind. I feel that he is very knowledgeable and willing to work hard. It truly felt like he wanted to work by our side, not just take money from us. Unfortunately we were unable to use his services because of a conflict of interest, but he gave us a list of comparable attorneys and said we would be able to reach back out to him if we needed an outside opinion. We really appreciated that he was willing to accommodate. He is kind and easy to communicate with. We would have stayed with this firm had we been able to.
I had an ex file for custody and child support and I have my son half the week, and didnt feel the need to have to argue with my sons mother so I hired Chance to help avoid a panic and drama.. He was fast and spoke honestly and was detailed in his plan to get a successful outcome.. I ended up keeping me and my sons schedule the same and he maneuvered around some of the other details of my case.. I would highly recommend him..!
My case was/is complicated and he was not only empathetic but aggressive and it seemed he always had an alternate route to take. Having options is very important. I can't tell you how many times I emailed Chance frustrated with how I was being treated by my ex and every time he made me feel like it would be ok, to take it easy and let him do what he does. Chance did a great job and I am happy I hired him.
It has been several years since I dealt with Chance but he appears to still be with Goldberg and Jones. Coming in the door Colin Amos promised me the moon, then passed me off to Chance. Most of my funds were spent sitting around chatting it up with Chance. He never developed a legal strategy to move forward with my case, even refusing to even attempt to research the value of narital assets. Valuable time was lost and, consequently, money. I wasn't sure if Fewel's failure to perform his duties,as my attorney were more due to professional incompetence, ineperience or a lack of passion for the job -- perhaps all three? Anyway after re-uping their retainer once too often and expending thousands of my dollars for legal services of questionable value I cut hi m loose and hired another lawyer who as she said "cleaned up the mess" he had made of my divorce. Lesson learned, even if a little late.
i WAS GIVEN A REFERRAL TO GOLDBERG AND JONES. I DECIDED TO GO DESPITE KNOWING THAT ANY FIRM THAT POURS AD MONEY INTO A PRODUCT LIKE THEY DO TYPICALLY IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE A POOR PRODUCT, I PAID MY 200 DOLLARS FOR CHANCE TO MAKE JOKES REPEATEDLY ABOUT MY BEING DUMB ENOUGH TO MARRY THE SAME PERSON TWICE.. I HAD DONE A FAIR AMOUNT OF DUE DILLIGENCE PRIOR TO VISITING HIM,, HE WAS MORE CONCERNED WITH MAKING FUN OF ME AND TELLING ME THAT I SHOULD JUST SETTLE MY CASE FOR HALF.. HIS PARTING COMMENT WAS TO HAND ME A CARD AND TO LET ME KNOW WHEN I WAS GOING TO RETAIN HIM.. AND A FINAL JOKE ABOUT MARRYING THE SAME PERSON TWICE.. I HAVE SUBSEQUENTLY RETAINED A COMPETENT ATTORNEY AND AM HEADED FOR TRIAL..
I retained Chance for two months, had one face-to-face meeting (2 hours), we only had one hearing (45 minutes), three phone calls and approximately 6 emails (only two of which were initiated by me), and was charged almost $6K. Everytime I received a bill there was new charges added to the previous billing cycle. I maintained my trust account as required and on one occassion he effectively spent over $2K when there was virtually no correspondence between us nor anything going on with opposing counsel or the court. We all know lawyers charge excessivly, but I feel taken for a lot while he provided very little. If this is the caliber of Goldberg Jones lawyers, then I would recommend everyone considering using their services to carefully consider their options. Father's need lawyers of integrity, affordability, and the ability to make a viable argument for the dad (which I did not get much of either as he allowed opposing counsel to blatently lie about me with no rebuttal from my lawyer in front of the commissioner), not blood/money suckin, do nothing men in suits.
