Cecilia Lee began the practice of law in 1986 in Portland, Oregon as an appellate lawyer with the law firm of Schwabe Williamson & Wyatt. Committed to written and oral advocacy, Cecilia translated the skills she acquired as an appellate lawyer to the practice of bankruptcy and commercial law in Reno, Nevada starting in 1988. Since beginning her practice in Reno, Cecilia has had a long history of success for a diverse client base, including businesses, financial institutions, not-for-profit organizations, governmental entities and individuals. Cecilia prides herself on providing cost-conscious solutions that address each client’s particular needs in each case.Cecilia has represented clients in all primary aspects of bankruptcy practice, including debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, committees and trustees in chapters 7, 11, 12 and 13. She has represented clients in all aspects of bankruptcy appeals, including to the United States Supreme Court. Cecilia practices in Nevada courts on receiverships, collection matters, evictions and other litigation related to debtor-creditor relations. She also represents businesses and individuals on general business matters.In 2002, Cecilia was certified as a Business Bankruptcy Specialist by the American Board of Certification and has been recognized as a business bankruptcy specialist in the state of Nevada since that time. A 1980 graduate of Swarthmore College, Swarthmore, Pennsylvania with a bachelor of arts with honors in Biology, Cecilia received a master of science degree from the University of Oregon in 1982 before enrolling in Willamette College of Law in Salem, Oregon. Cecilia graduated in the top 15 percent of her class at Willamette in 1986, receiving High Papers in Ethics, Products Liability and Land Use Planning. She served as an Associate Editor of the Willamette Law Review for two years and began arguing cases while in law school to the federal and state courts in Oregon.Cecilia is AV Peer Review rated by Martindale-Hubbell. She is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and the state and federal courts in Nevada and Oregon. An emeritus master of the Bruce R. Thompson Inn of Court, Cecilia has served as a past-president of the Inns of Court. She volunteers for the State Bar of Nevada, having served primarily on the Lawyer Referral and Service Committee, first as a member and then as the chair of that committee. Cecilia also was a past-president of PackPAWS, the University of Nevada’s organization to promote and advance women in sports and to monitor Title IX issues.In 2012, Willamette University College of Law invited Cecilia to sit on its Board of Visitors. In the 2014-2015 school year, Cecilia joined Willamette’s law faculty as an adjunct professor of Debtor/Creditor and Restructuring law. Cecilia has served on American Bankruptcy Institute’s award-winning Committee on Consumer Bankruptcy Law since 2014 and as the ListServe Facilitator and as Newsletter Editor. In addition, Cecilia publishes and lectures on various aspects of business and bankruptcy law.Cecilia is a member of Silver State Striders and a marathon runner. Before attending law school, Cecilia studied the cello with Orlando Cole of the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia. She is currently a member of the Susanville Symphony Orchestra.
