Before opening The Advocates Law Office, PLLC with prominent bankruptcy attorney Tram Harper, Catherine Jones was a bankruptcy and mediation attorney with Bess, Blougouras, Jones & Freyberg, P.A. Catherine was also the managing attorney for Cocoa Beach Law Group, LLC, a firm focused primarily on defending homeowners in foreclosure actions. Catherine currently practices in the areas of bankruptcy and mortgage modification mediations. Catherine was a Judge Advocate General (JAG) in the United States Army for 5 years. For the first 2 years of her active duty service, Catherine managed a legal services office for the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The legal services office provided legal advice in the areas of consumer protection, estate planning, landlord/tenant, family law, immigration, contract and military law. Catherine streamlined efficiency and substantially increased service availability to her client base, focusing on preventive measures rather than reactive legal services. Her office earned the Army Chief of Staff Award for Excellence in Legal Assistance in 2006. Following her service with the 82nd Airborne Division, Catherine transferred to the United States Army Claims Service in Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. For 18 months, Catherine managed the Foreign Claims program, supervising more than 130 attorneys stationed in Germany, Iraq and Afghanistan who were tasked to investigate and adjudicate personal injury, medical malpractice, and property damage claims occurring overseas. For the remaining 18 months of her active duty service, Catherine transferred to the United States Tort Claim Division where she managed 9 field offices throughout the Middle and Eastern United States. The field offices, under Catherine’s supervision, investigated high-value personal injury, medical malpractice, and property damage claims filed against the Department of the Army. Catherine attended Florida State University College of Law. She received her undergraduate degree in Information Studies from FSU as well, graduating summa cum laude.
