About
I am Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Matrimonial Law Attorney, which is a special designation afforded to certain attorneys only after acceptance of a lengthy and rigourous application and testing process by the Supreme Court of New Jersey; I practice exclusively in the area of matrimonial and family law. My practice includes all aspectss of family law, including but not limited to issues of custody, child support, child support, spousal support, equitable distribution, enforcement of prior court orders, non-dissolution matters, and domestic violence. I am admitted to practice law in the States of New Jersey, New York, Florida, and the District of Columbia. I have completed The Institute for Family Law Associates training course in Chicago, Illinois offered by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. In 2005, I also successfully completed the ABA Family Trial Advocacy Institute program held in Houston, Texas. I have been repeatedly appointed to the New Jersey State Bar Association, Family Law Section Executive Committee (FLEC), and have wide exposure as a lecturer and moderator. In 2007, 2008, 2010 - 2015, I was nominated consistently by my professional peers and selected as one of the Top Young Lawyers in the State of New Jersey by Super Lawyers in the New Jersey Monthly Magazine. From 2011 to 2015, I was also selected and featured as one of Bergen County's Top Lawyers in the area of Family Law by the prominent 201 Magazine and recognized as an 'excellent' attorney by Avvo, with a 10 rating. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida with concentrations in Criminal Justice and a minor in Mass Communication. I was also a member of Florida Blue Key, a prestigious statewide leadership organization and an active participant and member in Student Government and Vice President of Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority. I was also inducted into several honor society fraternities. However, as any University of Florida Gator, or acquitance of a UF Gator knows, I remain an active Alumnus of the University and a dedicated and loyal Gator fan -"Go Gators!" I then attended the University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida where I received a Juris Doctorate. While at the University of Miami, I was a member of the University of Miami's law intern program where I worked at Legal Aid of Dade County in the Family Division. I then moved to the New Jersey/New York Metropolitan area in 2001, and immediately began practicing in the area of Family Law. Prior to opening my own law firm, I was an associate at another large and prominent firm in Bergen County. However, I opened my own firm upon realizing that I wanted better client relations and continued dedication to the practice of family law. We handle all issues involved in divorce & family law, including but not limited to custody, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, removal, modification of court orders, prenuptial agreements, domestic violence, and International child abduction. In my spare time, I am an aspiring Latin dancer enjoying most of my time taking lessons in Hustle and Salsa and am currently learning West Coast Swing.

“Carrie, I wanted to send a quick note to thank you again for taking the time to meet with me today as well as for your incredibly helpful guidance and advice--it was truly insightful. To say the situation in which I find myself is very complicated and difficult is an understatement and something I've been struggling with, that was until today. For the first time in a very long time I feel like I finally have some control and power to control the outcome in the best interest of my son and I, and hopefully his Mother as well--for that I thank you, sincerely.” - Eric S. Carrie is incredibly passionate in her advocacy for what is right and while, of course, providing legal guidance does so with a candor that is second to none. To me finding a good lawyer was the objective but further had shared values. That's because then I would know we had a mutual interest--my sons happiness and well being. If that rings true for you, in part or entirety, then you needn't look any further.
Carrie is a highly professional and thoughtful attorney, who has taken the time to work through and discuss my options so that my best interests are met. Based on my experiences, I highly recommend her for both conventional and challenging family law needs.
Carrie was informative, caring and immediately responsive. She helped me keep my daughter from being removed from NJ against my will and without my knowledge. She assisted me in exercising my rights as a parent and a father. "She's Great"
After my consultation with Carrie, I knew I made the right choice! She was so helpful! I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, and she made sure to make me aware of anything and everything to make sure I was well prepared. If your looking for an excellent lawyer, who is knowledgeable I absolutely recommend Carrie!
Carrie Schultz is a very thoughtful and intelligent person. She is someone you can trust to listen to you and make sure she understands your particular situation. Carrie will represent you in a the way you want to be represented as well as protecting your interests in a highly effective manner. She cares about her clients and their well being, and it shows. I would highly recommend Carrie.
Thank you Carrie Schultz for your warm and knowledgable help in finding me referrals! I would highly recommend you to others seeking your expertise.
Carrie possesses the rare ability to quickly change a emotionally complex and confusing legal situation into a well structured and sensible process. She sympathizes with the human aspect of personal matters, never losing sight of a client's ultimate goals and motivations. Within minutes of our opening phone call, I went from frightened and full of worry to confident and knowledgable about my situation and legal rights. Unlike many other lawyers, Carrie does not apply unnecessary pressure to move a case forward, but rather encourages her clients to fully understand their emotions to ensure they are making a sound decision before proceeding with what are often life altering legal decisions. Ultimately, my experience working with Carrie was superior. In addition to being a highly skilled and effective attorney, she is a real person who is relatable, kind, and focused on a client's long-term happiness.
Ms. Schultz was knowledgeable and efficient. She was responsive to my queries and goals. I have recommended her often.
Post settlement court started only 6 months after my divorce settlement that was handled by Carrie. I came out of the divorce proceeding worse then what I went in with when I hired Carrie. I had a settlement when I met Carrie and I should have taken it instead of falling for the old "you could do better, he's cheating you, lets take it court", but I was vulnerable. When I did take the lesser settlement at the end, unfortunately it was poorly handled as it went on the record. I am still going to court and/or paying for the errors allowed or not caught. When you go through a almost 3 year divorce proceeding, you should know to protect the client by ensuring the settlement read on the record is in rock solid form, and it was not. Carrie Schultz knows how to advertise herself so be wary of what you read.
