About
I dreamed of being a lawyer from a young age. I feel privileged to practice in a profession I love. I also feel privileged to use my law degree and skills acquired in the education arena too, as I am also an Adjunct Professor at the Univerity of Cincinnati. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my son, reading, hiking and otherwise being outdoors.

I had a great experience from my initial consultation to then retaining Carol to represent me in family court. She is very professional and informative with keeping me in the loop about court dates/times. I never felt left in the dark about what was to happen next! I highly recommend an initial consultation to use Carol.
Absolutely the best lawyer I’ve ever come across. She doesn’t only fight for clients she does it with a passion. I can honestly say hands-down she has the best lawyer in Kentucky. If you want a hard worker, a strong fighter, a up spoke and respected person to fight for you I would highly recommend her
I had a court date today and this attorney not only looked beautiful and very professional, but when my case was called by her, it was very simple and fast. My charges nor a bond, was even brought up. Thus was an arraignment. All I heard was not guilty, preliminary hearing, and goodbye. I could not believe what I seen today. She was very professional and seems to get what she wants. If there is any negative reviews, I would have to say they are full of crap. From now on, I will go to Carol for any legal issues. Extremely responsive to all my calls and messages. Thank you so much because I really thought I was going to jail. I wish they had 10 stars.
From the first consultation, Carol has been excellent. She was very informative of every aspect of my case. I had a very long difficult custody battle, Carol was there with me all the way. I felt her passion toward the case, and that gave me confidence. To feel like she cared about the situation, and not just the job, made me feel so much better during a very difficult time in my life. After, a very long time and multiple trips to the court room, we walked away with everything that we were asking for. ( no one wins in a custody battle. It's an ugly thing for everyone involved). However, thanks to all the hard work of Carol and her team, I do believe that my kids benefited the best they could with the situation at hand. Thank you Carol!!!! My family can't thank you enough!!!
In 2014 Carol represented me in a fairly straight-forward divorce where my ex-husband and I were able to quickly compromise on all issues - asset/debt division, custody, etc. After the divorce, while my ex and I weren't friends we did have a relationship in which we were able to discuss and compromise on any issues that arose, mainly because I would give in in the hope of maintaining a peaceful and positive relationship for our kids. In November 2016 my ex wanted me to give him the children 100% off the time (we had a true 50/50 parenting schedule), reduce his child support and asked me to pay 50% of a $12k debt from the time of our marriage that had already been divided in our agreement. I reached a point where giving in was not in the best interest of the children and denied his requests. That began a 6 month court process. I work in the legal industry but that didn't fully prepare me for the intense emotional roller coaster that followed. But throughout the process I had Carol Risk and thank goodness I did. Carol was knowledgeable about not only the issues of law involved in my case but also about the local rules and the court process. In the courtroom it was obvious that Carol was the more knowledgeable family law attorney as she raised objections, cited law and questioned witnesses. But beyond her knowledge and excellent courtroom ability Carol cared about my case. I understand she couldn't be there every time I had doubts and questions because I'm not her only client, but she was there when needed with excellent advice like how to communicate with my ex and the best way to position myself in light of the pending court hearings throughout the process. When I finally stopped trying to run my own case and listened to Carol and allowed the court process to unfold I actually felt better and my case progressed. We won on all issues and I am so thankful to Carol Risk for being such a zealous advocate for me and my children and for being the kind of woman that will tell me when to get out of my own way.
Needed Carol's help to avoid a court date for a moving violation. Hired on a Tuesday and my court date was that Friday. She made a call and sent a couple of emails to the prosecutor and my case was dismissed!!! She is very thorough and professional! I will absolutely use her again if needed.
Hello, my name is mark and for the past six years I have been in one of the most disguting and crazy custody battle. It started out as me just fighting to establish my rights and parenting time. During this time I dealt with 3 different lawyers that were pitiful and no more fought for me than a bug fighting a shoe that is squishing it. Needles to say one day after an extremely unfair decision in court while i was walking back to my car i saw ms. Risk law firm I walked in that door and my life has been better ever since. Im not going to say it was easy and Carol assured me it wouldnt be and continued to encourage me to not give up. Slowly but surely after 4 more years we gained little by little. Finally i almost have my son completely thanks to some awesome attorney work and some poor decisions by my sons mother. I couldnt recommend a better lawyer or person.
Carol helped me get full custody of my daughter and was a constant professional as well as a great listener. I highly recommend Carol as a lawyer and feel very fortunate to have had her help me and my family.
I had a very unusual case with regards to an Ex Girlfriend. I was served on a thursday did some research and Carol was recommended through a family member. They vetted her and said she is the best one to go to in this geographical area. I talked to her and hired her after a phone consultation, She knew exactly the case and was through in her research of not only the facts she needed but sorted through all the extra I kept brining up. Carol could see I was a fish out of water and put me at ease while she reviewed the facts with me. This was all over Email and phone conversation since I live in California. The day of the case I arrived in Kentucky after Traveling all night and morning. We went over some final notes and looked over the evidence against me. She said this is easy to beat. We swore in and started the actual review of the case, Carol established the lines she needed to maneuver in and started diminishing the petitioners evidence, blowing huge chunks out of the case that was brought against me. By the time the Petitioner was done the judge had Already Ruled the Case Dismissed. All in all I spent 18 hours traveling for 20 minutes in a court room, to have the case dismissed by the skill and diligence of Carol. I can not recommend her enough to you if you have a case, that needs serious attention, this is the Lawyer you need.
If I had to choose one word to describe Carol and The Risk Firm it would be phenomenal!! I retained Ms. Risk to defend me in a family court matter. Her confidence and comfort level in the courtroom is impressive to say the least. She was assertive, not the slightest bit apprehensive about speaking up, and had a no-nonsense approach in dealing with the other side. I desperately wanted to find an attorney that would make sure my voice was heard and fight for what I thought was right for me and my kids. Carol did exactly that. Carol’s confidence and grounded disposition outside of court helped calm my anxieties and fears. She was prepared and focused on getting the job done and she did it with ease. Very talented attorney who I hold in great esteem and would highly recommend.
