This case has resulted in the complete overhaul of Jefferson County’s sewage treatment practices and provided a model for CWA settlements nationwide. It also established a $30 million greenway project for Jefferson County, the largest ever undertaken in the US. Slawson also participated in a suit which forced EPA to set TMDLs (total daily pollution limits) for all impaired water bodies in Alabama and will lead to a dramatic decrease of pollution discharge into the state’s waters.
