B. Douglas Earthman concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate law, secured lending transactions, and transactional work, including municipal bond and other tax-exempt financing transactions.He serves as bond counsel in a variety of tax-exempt bond matters, including general municipal finance, industrial development, health care and housing matters, and in other capacities, such as trustee’s counsel, developer’s counsel, issuer’s counsel, credit provider’s counsel, underwriter’s counsel and counsel to companies using or benefiting from tax-exempt financings.Based on Mr. Earthman’s experience and service as bond counsel, Glankler Brown is a “Red Book firm,” meaning it is listed as bond counsel in the directory most often used in the municipal bond industry for identifying nationally recognized bond counsel. He has been a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers since its formation in 1979 and has attended 38 of 40 annual Bond Attorney Workshops.From 1999-2001, Mr. Earthman served as Vice-Chairman of the Joint Study Committee established by the Tennessee Bar Association and the Tennessee Bankers Association to study and recommend the adoption of Revised Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code in Tennessee. The bill recommended by this committee was adopted by the Tennessee Legislature in 2000 without change. The committee recommended technical amendments to Revised Article 9 the following year which were also adopted.He serves as an agent or approved attorney for most major title companies active in the Memphis area.
