I'm not even sure that 1 star is applicable to the lack of responsiveness, knowledge, and information Brunella gave us. So ill-informed on so many levels. We initially went into the Hernandez Law Firm to meet with an attorney about bankruptcy. Through the process of reviewing our file, Brunella recommended we short sale our home because "they always go through" and it would buy us more time in our home and also keep us from going bankrupt. So that this review doesn't end up 10 pages long, I'll just cover some of the worst things that happened. 1. We had to constantly email her for updates. Weeks would go by with no contact and no information. 2. We were told on multiple occasions that information had been sent to our lender - but it hadn't - we had to do that ourselves. 3. She gave us misinformation on several occasions about what pieces of our debt associated with the house could be included in the short sale. We had to do a lot of research ourselves to determine that she was giving us wrong answers on many things. 4. She tried to get us to say that she was never our attorney or else she "was going to back out of the short sale because she didn't want a malpractice suit." (Yes, she actually said these words to us over the phone. - and the principle attorney Kristy Hernandez called us directly to try and smooth things over.) 5. At the last minute, the investor backed out of the deal (literally 2 days prior to the short sale) and we never heard from Brunella. No calls or emails were returned to find out next steps. We followed all required steps from our lender to move out by a specific date to make the short sale happen and then we were left hanging and two days away from a foreclosure. In good faith, I could never recommend this attorney or her firm for any services. It's sad when a family just wants help and that was really the last thing we received. Instead it was many months of stress added on top of what was already a stressful situation.
