Bruce had done our wills. So when my husband died he did all that was associated with the estate which also included my portion of a business. He did a great job for me and I would highly recommend him.

Bruce Thompson was referred to me by the Oregon State Bar (a referral system that does not vet attorneys) and I came to the meeting organized and having studied – not just read, but studied – the pertinent laws. I was hoping to learn something from Bruce and had just 6 questions. Here’s how it went: Bruce and I sit across from each other at the conference table. I hand him the paper-clipped pages consisting of the trust instrument, a list of questions, and a few relevant documents. Bruce takes the papers and, as he maintains eye contact with me, he flips the stack over face down on the table. Referring to my own copy of the papers, I ask an easy question to which Bruce replies: I don’t know…. I’d have to read the trust instrument. I ask a second question. Bruce replies: I don’t know…. I’d have to read the trust instrument. Me: Mr. Thompson, the trust instrument is right in front of you. Bruce: Yeah, but I’d have to read it. Me: It is 8 pages and I’ve scheduled you for an hour and a half. Bruce: Well, after I read it I'd then have to think about it. Me: Ok, we’re done here. The meeting I’d prepared hours for was only 14 minutes. Naturally, Bruce wanted his fee.
