About

Attorney Britt Morton Cobb has been practicing law since 1998. She began her practice in Colorado before relocating to Michigan in 2006. She has worked exclusively as a defense attorney, representing the accused in criminal cases at the trial level — while also representing individuals in licensing matters, immigration matters, and in appeals at both the federal and state court levels. She has handled appeals in the Michigan Supreme Court, the Michigan Court of Appeals, the Colorado Court of Appeals, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Board of Immigration Appeals. Britt became Partner at Willey & Chamberlain in 2017 where she has worked since 2007. Britt’s practice has included a wide variety of trial and appellate work at both the state and federal level. She has handled felony and misdemeanor cases in state courts across Michigan. She has emphasized her federal practice in Michigan, handling everything from serious drug trafficking and fraud offenses to more minor federal offenses.  Britt graduated with a B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1992 and a J.D. from the University of Denver in 1998, where she received a number of awards and was General Editor of the Denver Law Journal. She is a member of the Michigan State Bar, the Criminal Section of the Michigan State Bar, the Colorado Bar Association, the Grand Rapids Bar Association, the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the American Immigration lawyers Association and the Federal Bar Association. She is admitted to practice in the Colorado and Michigan state courts, as well as federal courts in the Western District of Michigan, the District of Colorado, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

I have worked professionally with many attorneys. Britt is outstanding. I was one of the first in the state to be prosecuted under the "super drunk" laws. I blew a .29 yikes. I got time served 1 day and 72 hours community service and 12 months probation. I paid $800. Outstanding result from a knowledgable an very professional attorney.

Britt Cobb responded to my inquiry almost immdiately and the next day she was representing me. Fantastic to work with. She listened to every question I had and was explaining how things worked on the prosecuting a defense side the entire way. Not only did I feel that she really had the knowledge to handle my case, the best part about my experience with Britt was the emotional support, and peace of mind throughout the case. I was extremely stressed about my situation and talking with Britt really made me feel that i still had control over the situation and my life. Britt was always available when I needed her and, was consistently friendly and professional, and though my case was short and low paying, I knew she still put all the energy needed to help me into her work. Once again I can't thank you enough Britt!

Ms. Cobb recently represented me on a matter in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was always available to take my questions and carefully walked me through the process. I could tell she was very prepared to handle my case. As a result, she was able to secure a much needed dismissal on my behalf. I would highly recommended her.

The case involved the issue of ownership of funds in a garnishment proceeding involving a government debt dated to 1998. Specifically an inheritance, not intended for the garnishee was seized, inappropriately was the opinion of garnishee. Complex financial transactions was made more complex by the garnishment arm of the government. However the case ended better than expected with a settlement that exceeded expectations, great work by attorney Cobb.
