Mr. York is the person you want representing you and never the person you want representing your adversary. If Mr. York is on the other side of the table, immediately settle the case and give them whatever they are asking yor for -- as it will save you in the long run. Mr. York is extremely creative in crafting legal arguments most attorneys could not even dream about and slipping loopholes in contracts that are favorable to his client and can (and often do) tangle the counterparty in an unsurmountable legal web. We hired Mr. York to draft a lease for an aircraft securitization where the contract payments due to us were approximately $200 million. The counterpary ran into financial problems and we had to rehire Mr. York to sue for breach of contract. We would have been happy to recover our expected profit from the transaction (approximately $60 million) but due to Mr. Yorks legal genious in drafting the damages provisions, we were able to recover the full $200 million. Since Mr. York has gone in-house (to GE), the rest of us have lost a valued legal gem -- but our loss is GE's gain - how else can a multinational powerhouse that earns billions pay zero in U.S. federal tax???
