About
For over a decade, Brandy has worked with businesses and individuals to provide the support they need to navigate the working world.Brandy began her legal career with the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and after moving to Oregon served as a civil rights investigator for the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries. For a number of years, she represented employees in discrimination, wage and hour, and unemployment claims in private practice. Over the years Brandy noticed a trend: many of the disputes she worked to resolve had their root in instances where employers didn’t act maliciously towards their employees but simply did not know that their actions were unlawful. Brandy realized that if she could work with business owners who wanted to do the right thing but needed proactive guidance, she could help business owners and employees by avoiding disputes and creating better workplaces for all. With that belief and a commitment to helping both businesses and employees thrive, Brandy founded Pirtle-Guiney Law LLC to work with small businesses and individuals from across Oregon who are looking for personalized legal support that is effective, straightforward, and forward-thinking. She loves being a problem solver for her clients and watching their careers and businesses grow.Brandy brings her legal expertise and commitment to equity and justice to her community involvement as well. She currently serves as the President of the Board of Pride Foundation, a regional community foundation that has invested more than $70 million to build a better, safer, and more equitable world for LGTBQ+ individuals. Drawing on her professional experience, she helped negotiate the merger between Pride Foundation and Oregon’s Equity Foundation in 2016.Brandy lives in NE Portland with her wife, their young son and his kitten Hamilton, and a city flock of chickens. She’s a fan of the Boston Red Sox but can’t wait for MLB in PDX.

I hired Brandy last summer to represent me during an unexpected and overwhelming life event. She negotiated an appropriate severance with my former employer, and I am so thankful for Brandy's representation. She helped me navigate an extremely uncomfortable situation, and I am so glad I hired her because she ensured I was treated fairly and received the appropriate compensation that I deserved. She worked hard for me, and I am forever grateful.
Brandy was very prompt in her responses and handling of the issue. She got me more compensation than I was expecting. Highly recommend!
I worked with Brandy to set up my business - she helped me form my LLC and get other documentation in order with the state. In addition, she supplied a number of contracts and materials that I could use when working with clients or my own contractors. People who I worked with after Brandy and I were done were impressed by how prepared I was for everything from doing an S-Corp election as an LLC to contract negotiations. I was impressed as well! Growing a business is a series of challenges, and working with Brandy helped me cut right through several of those challenges.
When I was downsized from my company, I contacted Brandy about getting a larger severance package. I believed I had been wrongly terminated due to my status as a pregnant woman. As there was also a change in HR as I was leaving, she worked efficiently to reach out the new corporate HR representative and communicate our concerns. We worked together to discuss my priorities and resolve my severance concerns and increase my offer.
Ms. Pirtle-Guiney was incredibly helpful in the review of a contract. I came to her with a contract that I had written that needed review to ensure that it would be legally binding and covered the appropriate situations. Ms. Pirtle-Guiney was very helpful, knowledgeable, and prompt.
I was surprised when Brandy returned my phone call after business hours to say that we could talk then or reschedule for another time. She was very helpful and kind in offering advice about a hostile employment situation. She is even willing to review a paragraph that I will be writing to my place of employment to rescind a previously signed Release Of Information at no additional charge. She seems to be focused on building lasting professional relationships instead of burning through single contacts and over inflated fees. I would consider consulting with her again and even hiring her in the future.
My experience with Brandy was ideal. She was prompt & informative, and she steered me away from missteps in a clear and empathetic way. Her fee was very reasonable, especially considering that her services were required for longer than expected by either of us. On top of assisting me with the issue at hand, she also offered advice and assistance regarding another concern that I had mentioned, at no cost. I would definitely seek her consult again.
As someone always recognized as a "stellar employee" I never thought I'd need an attorney. Things changed when I was fired from my job after informing my boss I was pregnant. Brandy went above and beyond my expectations. As a result of her extensive knowledge of employment law, she helped me win a fair separation agreement with my former employer. She even pushed for additional compensation to cover vacation days. I would enthusiastically recommend Brandy without any hesitation. During dark times it can be difficult to speak out - words can't convey what a relief it was to have Brandy in my corner.
Brandy is very knowledge about all kinds of issues. I had Brandy help me with my unemployment appeal. She put me at ease and I did win my appeal. I would hire Brandy again for sure.
I always think of Brandy and Davis Law office when legal issues arise. With the world being so policy driven, it can be difficult to know ones rights. Brandy was efficient, her support staff were in the know on my case, and I got the desired results that I sought after. Because of their office, my son was able to complete his year at school more successfully. I am eternally grateful and have recommended their services to my co-worker, friends, and family.
