This was my first time working with an actual, real life lawyer, and I came away impressed and feeling very good about the experience. Billie helped us to create a meaningful prenup and ensured that I understood all the (amazingly many!) issues related to getting married. Couldn't be happier, would strongly recommend.
I was very fortunate to meet Billie and have her take on my rather complicated divorce case. I had met several lawyers prior to Billie but none of them really listened or tried to understand my situation. Billie changed my opinion of lawyers entirely. She was consistently empathetic, patient, and kind and I never felt like I was just billable hours to her. Billie went way beyond the call of duty to help me out, modify papers frequently, give me coaching, and guide me towards better financial decisions so I could emerge sane from a really, really difficult and painful divorce. I wish there were more lawyers like Billie. It really does make divorce a lot less painful when you have someone like her genuinely looking out for you and restoring your faith in humanity.
Billie helped me step by step through my divorce offering valuable resources and options at every turn. She is very responsive to any/all questions and helps you feel like you are her only client and not looking to make money, but to genuinely help you through a very challenging part of your life. She will look out for you and tell you like it is, even if it's not what you want to hear. You need that kind of guidance during a divorce and she succeeds with class.
Billie Grissom has been a pleasure to work with, even during a difficult life event. She's knowledgeable, compassionate, pleasant, and fair to all parties. Should you find yourself in need of her expertise, I highly recommend her. She exemplifies what all attorneys should aspire to.
Billie was my attorney in my collaborative divorce. During an extremely difficult time for me, Billie helped me to navigate through a very unfamiliar legal world that I suddenly found myself in. Billie provided a much needed legal representation, but perhaps more importantly than that, I was able to trust and have faith in someone that would fairly and honestly represent my interests while upholding the integrity of a collaborative divorce process. She is a knowledgable, kind, and thoughtful attorney; I would highly recommend her.
WOW! The other comment listed here is really surprising to me! I used Billie around the same time frame you are speaking of and she was great! Constantly kept me in the loop and was quick to get back to me with answers to my questions. This process can be quite gruelling and I felt very confident having her on my side. $20K is a lot of money, but it has been my experiance that you get what you pay for. I'd easily recommend her to anyone looking for an excellent attorney!!!!
Billie was of great help to me during my divorce. She arranged a mediated settlement which was acceptable to both parties, and avoided a protracted court battle. She was also understanding, compassionate, and supportive.
Unfortunately I have to agree with the unhappy review of Ms Grissom. My divorce ended up being contentious, and I feel like she was out of her league and perhaps should stick to the non-litigation form of divorce. I spent way more money than I could afford and she knew it, but I guess that's the point of being a lawyer. When I had had it, she pushed for a mediator in which I would have to cough up another $10,000 retainer for her to continue. She didn't quit me, but I wish she had.....or more to the point, I wish I had quit her. When recommending lawyers to friends, I'll recommend my ex-husband's lawyer, no doubt about that. Not this law firm.
I went through a divorce in 2008 and after much contention, I was offered a settlement that wasn't perfect, but I wanted to accept it so that we could move on and our kids wouldn't suffer anymore. I chose to end it, rather than continue to fight for more money. Ms Grissom, after paying her over $20,000--quit me. She wanted me to keep fighting, to get more money (read: get HER more money) even though there wasn't any more to get. She said I was being robbed, but I CHOSE to end it and accept what was being offered, regardless of HER feelings. And she quit me. I didn't get any money back. She was so concerned with me not being able to live on the settlement I was receiving, but by golly she took every dime of the $20,000 that I paid for NOTHING. It was my choice to end things and as my attorney she should have respected that, not pouted that we could get more and then leave me high and dry while she counted her money. Do not use her--or her firm. My biggest mistake.
If you are looking for a quick out of court settlement with very little contact with your attorney and referrals to other expensive resources, this might be a good choice for you. Otherwise, be very careful. Her "bedside" manner is very insincere and condescending. I also found her to be unprepared for meetings and preoccupied with other appointments. I paid good money for very little service and ended up terminating my contract with her. There are better choices available.
