About
Divorce without going to court in a respectful and supportive environment. I offer out-of-court dispute resolution through either mediation or Collaborative Practice, which are positive and cost-effective alternatives to traditional litigation. In mediation, an impartial person (the mediator) helps people reach an agreement they can each accept. The mediator helps people talk the issues through in a way that often makes it easier for the couple to settle the dispute themselves. Mediators do not make decisions. Agreements can only be reached if everyone agrees. The mediator will not force you to agree to anything. Even if you do not think you will be able to agree to everything, mediation can help resolve some issues, so that you can concentrate on the issues you have not resolved and have a judge make the decision on those.Collaborative Pratice is a relatively new process in which a divorcing couple, together with their Collaborative attorneys and other trained professionals, work as a team to resolve disputes respectfully without going to court. Collaborative Practice and mediation can protect children from the negative effects of divorce, while allowing participants a wide range of settlement options, confidentiality, civility, and control of their own process.

Words cannot describe how thankful I am I was referred to and decided to retain Beth when I was going through my divorce. If you are reading this review because you are going through a divorce yourself, then you already know how physically, mentally and emotionally draining it is. From day one, Beth was very attentive and sympathetic to the details of my case. As we progressed through the process, I quickly realized the difference in the level professionalism, experience and integrity she brought to my case when compared to the opposing counsel. There was no comparison to be made. I believe if not for Beth’s experience, guidance and the strategy she implemented in my case I would still be going through the process and would’ve never obtained the very fair Marriage Settlement Agreement she negotiated on my behalf. I cannot stress the words honesty and integrity enough when describing her. All too often I would walk into her office ready to explode and walk out knowing I was in good hands. I quickly realized my best strategy moving forward was to trust her and just put it all in her hands. I did and my only regret I have now is that I didn’t retain her sooner. I would recommend Beth to anyone looking for an excellent attorney to consult or retain during their divorce, but if it was someone I cared about, I would insist. Beth I cannot thank you enough for everything you did for me.
My consultation with Atty. Appelsmith was great. Beth was considerate and generous with her time. She doesn't rush or seem impatient. She was listening attentively to all my questions and was able to answer all of them. She is professional with a heart.
After speaking with Beth Appelsmith for only a few minutes at our first meeting, I knew I could trust her, and my trust was well placed. She helped me think through and complete a pre-nuptial agreement on a very rushed timeline. Her calm approach and insights, as well as her advice gave me the confidence to sign the agreement with full knowledge of the consequences and benefits of doing so.
About two years ago I had the unfortunate need for a divorce attorney. I had been referred to Beth by an individual I respected. Once I had contacted Beth she was prompt in returning my call and setting an initial appointment. During the appointment Beth gave me an overall idea what I might expect. Beth was clear and concise about her fees and asked me a number of questions and most important, really listened to me as I told my story. As the divorce progressed Beth offered advice and educated me on the process I had never been through before. When issues arose and I would respond from an emotional perspective, Beth was very helpful in reminding me that this process required a business minded approach. This was a great help to me as it supported where I was but reminded me of the task at hand. I found Beth Appelsmith to be not only extremely knowledgeable but more importantly a professional with great integrity. I have referred her to others who have reported a similar experience. Because of the work I do, I have heard other individuals' experiences in their divorces. I have been appalled by many of the experiences they have shared with me. I am forever grateful to have had Beth Appelsmith as my legal representative throughout an experience that was so difficult.
Beth came recommended by a coworker, and I'm glad I transferred my case to her. She is very knowledgeable and experienced and counseled me well. Going through the divorce was very trying and emotional for me. It was hard to be reasonable to reach decisions about custody, support, distribution of assets. But, Beth had a skillful way to calm my emotional state. She was empathetic in her approach and was able to get me to see the big picture for best interest my children and my financial future. She clearly and concisely explained the issues and placed them into perspective. She and her assistant, Caroline, quickly responded to my phone calls and emails and regularly kept me updated on my case. I am very happy with the service provided and the final settlement reached. I will definitely recommend her service!
Beth is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She took the time to understand the details of my particular situation. She walked me through the process while being extremely professional yet caring. She is excellent.
Beth was my attorney during the collaborative divorce process. She was always encouraging and supportive and kind. I trusted her completely, and she worked very well with the rest of our collaborative divorce team. I highly recommend Beth and the collaborative divorce process to anyone in need of ending their marriage, and who is concerned about the emotional health and wellbeing of their children. At times, the process seemed grueling and like it would never end. But the time (and money) was definitely well spent, as my children seem to be very well adjusted and unharmed by the potential negative effects of divorce. I also feel as though my emotions were well handled and appropriately funneled to meet our needs. Beth worked beautifully with the rest of the collaborative divorce team, and her positivity and kindness were especially helpful to me during this most difficult time. I will always be so ever grateful to her and the work she put in on my (and my children's) behalf. Thank you, Beth. I wish you the best always!
Paragraph taken from my "thank you" letter I wrote to Beth when we closed my divorce file: Working with you brought sense and sanity to my living nightmare. You always returned my calls timely and when we spoke I was impressed with how well you listened to what I had to say. You would listen and ask questions during our conversations until you believed you had all of the information available. You dealt in facts, not feelings. Your written correspondence was articulate, accurate direct and powerful, resulting in desired outcomes. Your referrals to the right team of professionals, an objective Child Mediator and a talented Certified Financial Planner were also strategic moves that helped navigate the process. We were able to reach a settlement and produce a parenting plan that granted me the majority of parenting time. Thank you for being tough and sensitive. Thank you for being my "Big Guns" after all.
Working through a divorce can be costly. and it's not particularly fun. If you HAVE to go through this process, you want someone who is knowledgeable, respectful of the resources and objectives of the parties involved (hopefully, a mediated settlement because it's better for all involved), and who keeps you adequately apprised of developments and timelines. I found Beth Appelsmith to be excellent in all respects. She's very professional and as efficient as you give her guidance to be. She knows the law and gives advice based upon her knowledge of the law and experiences. She is also just plain nice---the kind of person you would probably want as a friend, though, everyone should be clear, that's not why you hire an attorney. I had to hire Beth to counsel me through a mediation; she would also probably be a terrific mediator or lawyer to counsel both parties in trying to reach a marriage settlement agreement.
Beth was very trustworthy thought my entire divorce process. She charged very reasonable fee adn all charges are clearly stated in her invoices. With her help and advise my divorce was settled without any complications. Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.
