I was married to a powerful, well-known divorce and criminal attorney. I hired an attorney that my former husband was able to get to his side, the dark side. I fired this attorney and with two weeks left before the trial, I went to Mr. Podell. My former husband hired a very powerful and expensive attorney. I was desperate in this stressful situation...He could have refused me because he would be facing a very angry attorney because I filed for the divorce. He took my case and worked every angle to make it the best experience I could expect at this late date. He was absolutely brilliant! I highly recommend this attorney. A truly amazing attorney!
I have been married two times and have a very demanding job Mr. Podell was very informed of my children, there names, ages , schools etc his hourly rate is high but is there a price on your children and his billing is very friendly a phone call does not cost 15 minutes in the end he is dirt cheap for the level of service .
This was a stressful and sensitive time. I hired Richard Podell on referral from another attorney. He bragged about himself..I was not impressed. I did not like that. I wanted to hear about rmy case. did not like that he did not step up and fight for holidays . He would agree with the other side and not fight for My position. I had to intervene in court and speakout myself and I, NOT HIM, was able to get Christmas holiday. Otherwise i wouldn't have anything.. He just sat there. I was outraged. I would meet with him and he would fall asleep. I left the meeting. He charged $500 /hr. I spent my savings on him( big mistake). I would spend my saving on a worthwild attourney if they were good and a fighter for me and my kids. My kids are worth it. However, he is a very poor quality lawyer to me. Definitely not worth the money. IF I COULD RATE HIM LOWER I WOULD.
My original attorney was Sheryl Cahn, an attorney with Podell office. She was let go (big mistake) and Mr. Podell incorrectly assumed that he would just take up my case. By means of introduction he began to tell me about his experience in training other lawyers and judges. He then started in about how often he travels the country giving lectures. Who cares? I began to wonder if he is ever in his office working on cases. He's not a listener. Just like the first reviewer, he could not remember the name of my child. He will expect you to be as impressed with him as he is with himself. He doesn't understand that during a divorce, women are often dealing with a soon-to-be-ex husband who is a pompous you-know-what and we don't need a lawyer with the same personality. He charges $425 per hour which is ridiculous.
When it comes to divorce you expect someone to be proactive and on your side. I felt that Attorney Podell was neither of these things. The only time I heard from him is when I called. He also recommeded my two young children be with their father for two whole months in the summer without me seeing them. He never remembered how many children I had, what the ages of my children were or even their names. I wound up arguing with my own attorney. After $6000 and tons of frustration I had gone backwards if anything and had to subsitute an attorney who would actually fight for what I wanted. It was pathetic. I would not recommend this high priced attorney to anyone!!! I don't know how he has done with other cases, but with mine it was only frustration and in the end losing a ton of money and then it tok him forever to get the substitution filed with the court so I coudl proceed and finally get my case done.
