If you're reading this review, you've probably realized there is no Yelp or Google Reviews for probate lawyers. But if there were, you'd find Barrett Hall extremely highly rated for many reasons. After the tragic death of my brother, I discovered that I was a trustee for his estate. As you might imagine, the aftermath of such a tragedy is fraught with emotion, confusion, and yet all the while, the burden to settle his affairs is urgent. I had absolutely no clue what I had to do other than to hire a good probate lawyer to help me. I found Barrett's name on the Internet, but didn't even know what to ask him to determine if I wanted to work with him. I found a list of about ten questions to ask a potential probate lawyer on an interview. I hesitantly called, Barrett himself answered, and immediately I felt comfortable with his knowledge, experience, compassion, and approachability. I barely made it through a handful of my questions and just knew he was right. During the call and throughout my experience with him, he was never condescending even when I asked him to explain something multiple times. He was able to explain esoteric concepts, making them easily understandable to someone with little background or savvy. Barrett has made the very difficult task of settling my brother's estate about as easy and anxiety-free as possible. He gives you the option of doing as much as you want to do and to call upon him to do the rest. This worked quite well for me because I could do the easy menial tasks and he would do anything that required his considerable expertise. He worked very closely with me and he was readily available and very responsive. He was able to decipher some obscure amendment to the trust, allowing me and my sister to become the exclusive beneficiaries, yielding an approximate $300,000 gain that was intended for us. I was so pleased and impressed with his proficiency, honesty, integrity and easy manner that we are having him revise a dated trust and also naming him future trustee of it as well. I think this is a true reflection and testament to my superlative experience and outcome of hiring Barrett.
I was desperate and contacted Barrett King. Ended up working with both Barrett and his partner Andy., They made me a priority and helped with my case. Because of their assistance my case ended favorably I can honestly say that once I reached Barrett and Andy, I was finally able to sleep!
My sister and I had been debating for about a year whether or not to hire an attorney to assist our 89-year-old mother with her current estate - and future LTC - issues. We had previously been referred to 3 other attorneys by friends, but consults with each of them left us feeling like we were in a hopeless situation. I saw a commercial on TV for Avvo and thought I'd try it - that's where I found Barrett King. I contacted him online and he immediately agreed to meet with us. By the end of our initial meeting, we knew we had found the right attorney for our mother. Within one business day of retaining Barrett King, he had started the legal ball rolling to help our mother. Finally, an Elder Care Attorney who knows the law! Thank you, Avvo, for providing such a valuable and helpful service.
When my husband died suddenly at the age of 31, Barrett worked tirelessly to help me gain power of attorney and to settle the estate. At a time when my life was turned upside down, Barrett went above and beyond to take care of me in a professional and diligent manner. Less than 24 hrs after my husband had died Barrett had begun his work. He would communicate with my father to get the necessary documents and signatures he would need. I trust him completely and cannot imagine how much more difficult and painful life would have been if not for Barrett and his good works. I am forever grateful and recommend him with utmost faith and respect.
My father recently passed away, and my family and I are trying to work out his estate. Mr. King was not very understanding at all for someone who makes a business out of this sort of thing. I could make the analogy of a vulture circling carrion. He was only concerned about how he could benefit. My little sister went in to sign some papers even though she isn’t the representative of my fathers estate. I called to inform them that I would be the one taking charge (of course with the signatures of my siblings) and was snappily told he could not represent me. It didn’t make any sense. He was pompous and very rude. It wasn’t a divorce...my family is working together to settle this, and I am the only adult child. He was snappy and his response made no sense seeing that we are all the same client. Definitely getting someone else!
