About
Ashley focuses the majority of her practice on domestic matters, however, she has extensive experience in the criminal arena as well. Ashley's clients often describe her as "straightforward, loyal and aggressive." Ashley is a wife, mother and a native of Hankinson, North Dakota.Divorce/Custody/Child Support:Ashley knows that her role in a family matter is to explain the process in a judgement free manner. Often times clients don't know what they want, or how to find their 'new normal." This is where Ashley comes in. Ashley knows that it is her job to keep her clients on track and to ensure they receive everything they deserve so they can be successful (and happy) in the next chapter of their lives.Child Protective Services/Foster Care/Juvenile Court/Grandparent Custody:Ashley has always been interested in the areas of law that affect children the most. Although the system is set up to protect children, that doesn't always happen. Ashley has helped countless clients fight the system to ensure their children, or grandchildren, are protected.Criminal Law:Ashley also practices criminal law in federal court. Federal court presents unique challenges that Ashley has tackled countless times. Ashley's judgement-free representation means her clients know she is always representing their best interests so they can get through what is often a very scary time in their lives as quickly as possible.Areas of PracticeFamily LawCriminal DefenseEstate PlanningProbateBar AdmissionsMinnesotaNorth DakotaEducationMarquette University Law School, Milwaukee, WisconsinJ.D. - 2009University of North DakotaB.A. - 2006Major: Political Science and CommunicationHonors and AwardsRising Stars, Super Lawyers, 2018 - 2019Professional Associations and MembershipsState Bar Association of North DakotaCass County Inns of Court (Ronald N. Made me feel like I was being protected during a scary time. I’m so grateful to have had her.
From the day I contacted Ashley, she was there to help and give me advice/guidance. Not only did Ashley fight for me, it felt like she put herself in my shoes, to have a full understanding of what I was going through. It was a tough, ongoing battle and not once did Ashley back down. She stuck to her guns and made sure I was staying as positive as I could be. I am so grateful I contacted Ashley and that she took my case. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
As we go through life, things change! I had the pleasure of consulting and hiring Ashley to handle my divorce. Hearing all the horror stories about divorces in my life. Really fully understanding the papers I had been served! Because every case is different To protect my own interests, I retained Ashley! I will I admit I was nervous and a bit uncomfortable, but Ashley walked me through with my situation with an unbiased opinion discussing the pros and cons. With the information that Ashley provided me we were able to come up with the best solutions that were in my best interest as well as the requests from the opposing attorney. Ashley passionately puts her clients first, as well as there best interest! I would give Ashley a 5 star rating and would suggest you using Ashley for any misfortune or legal matter that may occur in your life! Jason
Ashley was a very professional and caring lawyer. Nothing about this process is easy or fun, but she made it as simple as it could be for me. She was honest and understanding of my personal situation, and gave feedback consistently on how things should be handled. When she was unavailable, she made sure that another member of the team would be readily available for me. I would highly recommend Ashley.
I think everyone has 20/20 vision when looking back on their divorce. Things you should have done differently or things you wish you had thought about more clearly. While I absolutely have some of that, I know that if I hadn’t had Ashley to represent me, it would be much, much more. There were multiple times in the process that I was willing to settle for terms which would have actually left me and my children is a very rough financial situation. I’m so thankful that my attorney wouldn’t allow me to. Ashley was firm and patient while I came to terms with the fact that I couldn’t simply support my children by working three jobs. She was steadfast in pushing back when I was being unrealistic about my own abilities to support a family of three on my own meager income. Ashley was clear about what the law allows and what it doesn’t. She was realistic about what it would cost me to live outside my marriage. She was understanding and compassionate while regularly kicking me in the proverbial pants. To be honest, there were times when it felt as if she was part therapist and part attorney. Times she seemed like a friend fighting for the things I was too weak or afraid to ask for, but really, truly actually needed. I’m so grateful for the work she did for me. While no one gets everything they might want in a divorce, because of Ashley’s willingness to stand up for me, I did get the things I need.
