About

Ann has been practicing in the Family Law area since 1987 after completing a Judicial Clerkship in Freeborn County, Minnesota.  She returned to Wisconsin to practice and has 24 years of experience with divorce, complex custody matters, mediation, adoption, and guardian ad litem work -representing children in family matters.  She has been litigating family law cases for her entire career, but is also proud of her ability to mediate and negotiate resolutions for a substantial number of her clients.  Knowing how to litigate is important, knowing how to resolve the issue short of litigation can be more important. When not involved with the practice of law, Ann enjoys music, singing, playing golf, and working outside in her gardens.  It is important to balance your life with things that are not what you do every day.  Ann likes to travel and enjoys being involved in her church.   Ann's goals are to do the best she can  for each client, to help them move forward so they can get on with their lives, and to be an advocate for their concerns.  Not everyone gets what they want in a lawsuit, but you need to know the law and how it applies to your case.  Ann tries to educate her clients about what to expect and how the courts make decisions.

Ann worked with me on a complicated divorce matter with my ex-husband's alcoholism that impacted our children's safety. It was very important to me to both help him with sobriety and keep our children safe. Due to the complications of the disease, court matters had to be revisited 3 times in the course of 2 years. At every point she communicated well, listened clearly to what I wanted and gave excellent counsel. I happen to have a bachelor's degree in pre-law/paralegal studies and although that is by no means a law degree, I understand more than most that she is very competent. I highly recommend her. Dealing with any divorce matter is an extremely stressful experience and I found her to be exactly what our family needed to help us get through. Looking back, I honestly think some of her suggestions to add to the stipulations were part of the catalyst for my ex to now have 2 years of sobriety under his belt and a phenomenal AA family. She helped change our little family's life and I will never forget it.

I hired Ann Brandau to help me receive Guardianship of my mother. Ms. Brandau was very knowledgeable and helped me to understand all the legal aspects of the case. She was truly sincere in all areas in regards to my mother’s disease of Dementia and discussion to the court and the importance to obtain Guardianship. I highly recommend Ms. Brandau to others in need of a family lawyer.

She has done a great job for me so far. Is always good about answering questions for me and about grouping things together to get me the the advice for my money. Not out to charge a client to just make money off them.

Ann has been helping me with a series of matters for two - three years now. Ann is a counselor who brings more than a knowledge of the law to the table. Ann knows law and courts and jurists and how it comes together. She brings the counsel born of common sense. She always points me to the big picture and the realistic. Strategy is her strength. Very honest and very straight. She has my greatest respect as a professional and individual.

Not only did she not do what I hired her to do, her response was "sometimes there are just not enough hours in the day!" She was so bad I even ended up having to pay my ex's attorney fees as well. Best advise. Do not hire.
