About
“Divorce is difficult—but it need not be devastating.”Hello. I’m Andrea.I help my clients end their marriages without destroying their families. I get to know my clients, their concerns, and their goals for their future. I then assist them crafting an agreement that will meet those goals.Divorce doesn't mean having to suffer the emotional and financial turmoil with which it is often associated. As an attorney in the collaborative divorce process, I am a strong advocate for my client without being adversarial, and without inflaming the strong emotions that can arise during a divorce. As a mediator in the mediation process, I help both parties—you and your spouse—to hear each other, bridge your differences, and arrive at an agreement that works for both of you.To determine which path to divorce is right for you, read this or schedule a consultation.Divorce is more than dividing assets or reconciling balance sheets—it is about you and your future. The decisions you make during the divorce process will affect you and your family for the rest of your life. By being educated on your options, you will be better prepared to make decisions that will allow you to move forward … without regret.I’d be happy to explain the options available to you, and assist you in selecting the best option for you and your family. I look forward to speaking with you.My BioI am a mediator and collaborative lawyer and I am a leader and member in many professional organizations that reflect my interest in dispute resolution and family law issues including:I graduated from SUNY College at Buffalo with a B.A. in Journalism and from Albany Law School of Union University with a J.D. I was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1993 and to the Federal Bar, N.D.N.Y. in 1994. I received a Certificate in Positive Psychology in 2013.

I hired Andrea Vacca for a family matter - and am I glad I did. From the first call to meetings and follow-up emails/calls she patiently listened to my needs, provided helpful advice that I felt free to take or reject, and she made it very clear what interests were at stake each time. She always responded to my emails quickly and when she did, she was ready with the info or advice I asked without a need for further back-and-forth. She was kind yet strong when it came to representing my interests. As a lawyer myself - having worked with hundreds of lawyers - this combination of attributes is something I do not take for granted. I approached Andrea based on recommendations from several others who said she was the best -- so I was ready to pay the price. When the bill came, though, I was pleased with how efficiently she had used her time. She hadn't overcharged a minute and there were no surprises. I couldn't recommend Andrea highly enough.
This was one of the most difficult times of my life and I was afraid I would have a horrible experience like other friends. A co-worker thankfully recommended me to Andrea! Working with Andrea to handle my divorce collaboratively was the best decision. She understood what was important to me and what my needs were, educated me about the law and guided me through the entire process. Andrea was sensitive and responsive. She has such a nice way about her that she even managed to keep my overbearing ex in line. Though my divorce did take longer than I thought it would, I now understand it's a process and we ended up with a settlement that works for me. Andrea - I couldn't have done it without you!
Andrea was very helpful to me - gentle enough to help me navigate the difficulties I was experiencing, and firm enough to be clear with me about the choices that I needed to make. Divorce is not easy, but Andrea’s expertise, knowledge, wisdom, and guidance made it far less painful than it could have been. Highly recommend to anybody who needs an outstanding attorney.
I can't imagine having anyone other than Andrea in my corner through what is a stressful process. She was incredibly professional and supportive and always made me feel more confident in the outcome. I highly, highly recommend her. An absolute pleasure to work with and overall wonderful person.
I was referred to Andrea by a colleague of my mother's. I retained her after having to get rid of bad attorney. She was very professional, responded to all of my e-mails, returned my phone-calls, assisted me with resolutions and guided me through a dragged out divorce. Her recommendation of attending mediation via Family Kind [with Helene Bernstein, Esq. - another great mediator and attorney] helped move things along. My ex and I became amicable and ended on a bittersweet note with both parties ending off better than we started. Andrea listened, explained every process, answered all of my questions, and eased my anxiety. If you're looking for guidance, solutions, and answers this attorney is will provide that and much more.
This lawyer is terrible! Andrea was milking me the whole process. She wasted a year of my life. She doesn't respond to her clients for weeks, she isn't responsible, and a complete waste of money. I wish she never became a lawyer. If you want somebody to play with your time and your life -- hire Andrea Vacca.
