About
I graduated from Notre Dame Law School in 1994, and for over 20 years I have practiced solely in the area of marital and family law in Tampa Bay and throughout the State of Florida. I am a skilled trial lawyer, as well as an experienced collaborative divorce attorney. Throughout my career, I have represented doctors, lawyers, CEO’s and other corporate executives, financial advisors, business owners, professional athletes, and their spouses.I have the knowledge and experience to help guide my clients and their families through the difficult legal and emotional issues that often arise in family law matters. I pride myself on efficiently and effectively advocating for my clients, while maintaining a logical approach to my cases and helping my clients remain focused on the "big picture." My practice involves dissolution of marriage actions, post-judgment modification and enforcement actions, and pre- and post-divorce planning. I have experience in nearly every aspect of family law, including property distribution, asset and business valuation, alimony, child support, complex tax issues, parenting plans, and timesharing arrangements. I have been formally trained as a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator and I often use these skills to successfully negotiate creative settlements for my clients. I have also been extensively trained in Collaborative Law, and I am constantly striving to improve my skills by regularly participating in advanced trainings. I have successfully completed a number of collaborative divorce cases, and I will advocate the use of the collaborative process as a peaceful alternative to litigating divorce disputes, when appropriate. I am one of the founding members of what is now the largest collaborative divorce practice group in the State of Florida, Next Generation Divorce, and I served as the organization’s President from 2014-1015. I am also an active member of the Tampa Bay Collaborative Divorce Group and the International Association of Collaborative Professionals, and I am currently serving as the Co-Chair of the Collaborative Law Section of the Hillsborough County Bar Association.I have been certified as a Guardian ad Litem volunteer and have served on the Board of Directors of the Child Abuse Council and the Forest Hills Youth Baseball League. I am a member of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar, as well as the Hillsborough County Bar Association. I received my B.S. from the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University in 1990.

That first step into a law office after making the decision to get divorced was the biggest. Having endured more than a decade of my husband’s litigation over a business, which involved many attorneys from the least expensive to finally some of the best in their particular specialty, I knew the quickest way to a fair divorce settlement would be to skip right over the bottom feeders and go right to the best divorce attorney in the area. After a thorough search, Christine Hearn was the one. With legs shaking, I walked into Himes and Hearn. Both Christine and the office itself are stunning and impeccable. Immediately I had confidence in Christine and she did not disappoint. She reviewed my circumstances and recommended a collaborative divorce. I was initially reluctant because there appeared to be a great deal of corruption throughout my husband’s lengthy litigation so two attorneys working together as a team with a shared forensic accountant was an especially scary thought. Still, I trusted Christine and we proceeded. In the end there was a fair settlement with creative details that made it as comfortable as possible for both of us, something we could not have accomplished in court. At first it was really hard to understand why an attorney would want to handle a divorce in such a cost effective, expedient manner when most lawyers make big bucks from lengthy litigation. Christine explained that the work is so much more satisfying when the end can be accomplished in such a civilized manner. The whole process really did have a holistically rehabilitative feel throughout. Here is a woman who honors the law, loves her work and is exceptional at it. If you want to start at the top and hire the best divorce attorney in the Tampa Bay area, I recommend Christine Hearn.
