Amy represented me through one of the most difficult times in my life. She was thorough, extremely efficient, professional and caring. She is also tough when required, honest and direct. Not sure what more you could ask for in an attorney. I was exposed to quite a few folks in the legal world and she was the best.
By the time I met Amy, I was in embroiled in quite a legal mess. It had been 2.5 years since the opposing party filed a change of custody petition and things just went on and on without resolution. Emotionally, I was spent. It became clear that I needed a new attorney. Enter Amy. She listened to my story and quickly sifted through the fluff/emotional stuff. She knew exactly what to do and how to apply the law to protect me (and more importantly my child). Throughout the process she was always empathetic and understanding of the emotional toll but also knew how to cut-to-the-chase of what matters in the legal world. Unfortunately, opposing party is impossible to deal with and we went to trial. Amy prepared for the case expertly. In the end, I gained decision making authority rather than losing any and the new parental agreement landed pretty darn close to what Amy suggested 6 months before the trial. She knew exactly where things were headed and a lot of time, effort and money would have been saved if everyone just listened to her. Speaking of money - Amy is worth every cent. She is efficient and smart about her time management. The fortunate/unfortunate thing is that I continue to lean on her. Opposing party filed more petitions after our trial and I always feel like another one is around the corner. She is always honest with me about what can/cannot happen and helps me stand my ground. When needed, so goes to bat for me in the courtroom and digs her heels in; advocating for the things that are truly important. Someday, I hope I won't need her. In the meantime, I am so grateful to have her in my corner.
Amy is without a doubt one of the best family attorneys in the Chicagoland area. In addition to being experienced and knowledgeable in every aspect of family law, she is thorough, responsive, honest, and compassionate. When advising on a course of action, she will always have your best interests at heart. In court, she is a top-notch litigator, quick thinking and able to adapt to what's needed in each particular case, be it an aggressive or conciliatory approach. In the last five years during which she has represented me in several ongoing family matters, she has obtained only the most favorable results. In one word, she is a class-act. I highly recommend her!
Amy handled my divorce in 2020. There is a reason she is rated as one of the top lawyers in the area. I'm not sure there is a better lawyer out there to handle the toughest and most complex family law cases. Even though my case was considered straightforward there were many complexities and challenges we needed to overcome through the process. Amy is brilliant, compassionate, aggressive when needed, and will fight for your rights. I'm just glad she was on my side and representing me through my divorce. I would highly recommend her to any friends or family.
After working with a different attorney for a few month, I met with Amy and hired her. My divorce was 2.5 years with very little kids in the picture. There were many layers that were involved related to my divorce process and issues the arose during it. Amy know the laws amazingly well, and especially under the new Illinois law changes. Her knowledge was clearly evident each court date and during our 5 days of trial. She did such an amazing job handling my divorce case, and knew my two little kids were my priority. The judge ruled in every possible favor I was hoping for. He took Amy's/my proposed agreements word for word which included sole decision making and the schedule I thought was best for my kids. It was amazing and clearly showed that Amy knew what she was doing within the laws in place. She is smart, very professional, and communicated amazingly well (which was the down fall of my first attorney). Amy was also very compassionate and handled things in a professional manner. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
I hired Amy to set up a JPA ( joint parenting agreement) for my daughter. As anyone who has been in this position knows, it can be an extremely frustrating and a very emotional experience. After my first meeting with Amy, I immediately felt at ease. She was so helpful and informative. She was professional and always responded in timely manner. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. I strongly recommend hiring Amy Jonaitis!
I needed a lawyer that understood the situation I was in looking out for the best interest of my son. At our meetings and on our telephone calls I was open and honest about the events in my life. Amy and I developed a great rapport about all aspects of the case. She was always prepared for all interactions with the court and myself. Through the last three years as my lawyer, Amy has always kept me current and determined to stay on top of the case. She is exceptionally up to date on law and its applications and I trust her judgment completely.
I'm sure my case is no different than most any other divorce case. We all feel helpless and overwhelmed and I sure was when I was lucky to have been referred to Amy by another attorney that didn't practice in my county. From my initial consultation I knew that I had met a special attorney because as a retired police officer I have worked with many attorneys throughout my career. Amy is very professional, intelligent, organized and she truly knows how to apply the law as a litigator in the courtroom. However, what really sets Amy apart from most attorneys is that she is a very compassionate and empathetic attorney that truly cares about her clients. When my case began my world had turned upside down and I was worried about losing my parental rights more than anything. Amy guided me throughout the process and by the end she had turned my case completely around in my favor. Not only did I win a favorable financial outcome but I won majority custody of my children which is not easy for a father. I have personally never met a better attorney than Amy and I recommend her wholeheartedly. She definitely deserves a higher rating than 5 stars. I was very lucky to have been referred to her and I would like to pass that referral on to everyone else in need. Trust me, you will thank me later!
Divorce was obviously one of the most stressful things in my life, especially the aftermath with two young children. It was very emotional to be away from them and I was doing my best to keep it all together for them, not mentioning my career. Hiring Amy was an excellent decision in my journey. She listened, empathized and always helped me make the best decisions for my specific case. She treated me like family. I always knew that although it was tough on the personal side, she would have my back in the courtroom. I highly recommend Amy Jonaitis not only for her experience, professionalism and thoughtful presentation, but for the personal touch she provides during such a tough personal struggle.
Amy knows the law, which means she knows what is effective and what is not. Family law is highly emotional and Amy knows how to break it down to "just the facts" which helps her clients in knowing which issues to pursue and which issues may be emotionally difficult, but not important in family court or the outcome you're pursing. Amy is also extremely efficient. She devotes time to the activities that will produce the highest impact for her clients. Most importantly, she is strong. She uses the law to position the strongest argument on behalf of her client. She will also be 100% authentic in letting you know the likely outcomes of your personal position. I suggest listening to every ounce of advice she gives. As my attorney, she drafted an agreement that was rejected by the opposition. We went through trial and ended up with almost the exact agreement she suggested. Listen to Amy's instincts. She knows her stuff and truly wants to minimize any undue anguish from the realities of family court.
