About
Amanda grew up in Minnetonka, Minnesota. Growing up she spent most of her time in the goalie net and on the soccer field. After high school, Amanda attended the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management and received a degree in public relations and marketing while spending the majority of her time rowing on the Crew team and working at the Pillsbury Company as a Recipe Production Specialist which was just a fancy name for data entry clerk. When Amanda decided on the University of St. Thomas for law school, her mother said “Finally, why didn’t she listen to me and her heart sooner?” At UST, Amanda participated in the elder law clinical program, externed for then District Judge Francis Connolly, and received her certification as a Qualified Neutral in both family and civil law. After graduating from UST, magna cum laude, Amanda joined the law firm of Melchert Hubert Sjodin in Waconia, Minnesota. At MHS, Amanda spent her time practicing in a wide variety of areas and learned that she most enjoys solving problems for real people: individuals, families and small businesses. In 2011, Amanda and partner, Katie Hanson opened the law firm of Bloomgren Hanson Legal with a goal of providing practical people focused legal services. Amanda’s practice areas include family law, real estate, small business issues and general civil litigation. Amanda also acts as a mediator and early neutral evaluator for family law matters.Amanda believes that the real way to solve problems is not through the court system, but by taking a proactive approach in planning and dispute resolution. That being said, Amanda’s experience with a wide variety of types of litigation allows her to effectively and efficiently represent her clients in the court room when necessary.Amanda is also active in the local community and the legal community. Amanda is involved in the following activities and organizations:Amanda was named as a Rising Star by Minnesota Super Lawyers in 2015 and 2016. While only 5% of Minnesota lawyers are selected as Super Lawyers, only 2.5% of Minnesota lawyers are selected each year as Rising Stars. In her free time, Amanda enjoys laughing at the antics of her son, Eli, and her chihuahua, Biggie Smalls; fixing up her house and garden with her husband, Tamas; and trying to find time to make it to a yoga class. She also manages to spend way too much time on social media and taking advantage of the DVR function on her TV.

Throughout a brutal divorce battle, I almost walked away in defeat several times. It seemed like an impossible Catch-22. But Amanda had my back, and she wouldn’t give up. Her amazing skills and strong sense of justice prevailed, and we were able to get a fair settlement. By the time I was ready to hire a lawyer, my trust level was zero. My volatile emotional state was off the charts, and my life was in free-fall. I knew I had a right to claim my share of the property, but I was too exhausted to fight or negotiate any more. I’m forever grateful that I found Amanda. She seems to have a laser-tuned ability to cut to the chase, seeing through manipulations and refusing to get distracted by red herrings. Her legal advice and assistance has been literally life-saving. I don’t know how she does it, but I’ve felt more compassion and support in our very short, business-like correspondences than I’ve felt from many friends. Amanda responds like a real person, respecting me as a real person. With just a few words of understanding, she’ll let me know that she “gets it,” and then move into practical problem-solving action. If you’re looking for a lawyer who cares (for real!) I highly recommend Amanda Bloomgren.
Amanda is an amazing lawyer! She is professional, easily approachable and proficient! All correspondence with her was very timely and her expert advice was appreciated. She assisted with my divorce and I have recommended her to others for their legal needs. They were also happy with their results.
I had been divorced for about 10 years with two kids & had joint custody of them. I've since remarried, and then my wonderful wife & I were expecting our first child together. Around that time my Ex-wife tried again for the 3rd time for custody changes and lost again, so a new Parenting Consultant Janeen was appointed to our case. Suddenly my world was turned around when I lost over 85% of my time with my two current children based on the new PC's decision, even despite an extremely thorough Custody Evaluation being completed weeks before clearly recommending that changes should not be made to our 50/50 custody...and that it would cause more harm if changes were made. My close personal friend (who's also any attorney) new my situation was very complex and had highly recommended Amanda. Before meeting with Amanda, I thought it was a better choice that I consult with more expensive attorneys ($450-$750/hr) and those with at least 20 - 30 years of experience. The two other attorneys I consulted with were very stunned & nearly speechless after reviewing all of the Court Orders and then the 8 or 9 PC Decisions made over a period of maybe 12 months. Yet they did not felt that I had a strong case to overturn the Judge's or the new PC's Decisions and to have the PC vacated, as this was a very difficult & rare task to accomplish. I then decided to meet with Amanda. After she reviewed my case, she didn't make any guarantees, but said that she felt we had a strong argument based on the, "facts of the law". That gave me enough confidence to proceed. After filing our first motion, Amanda was able have the Judge allow our case to be reviewed again. Several months later we had our hearing. We ended up winning our case and the PC was VACATED! The PC Janeen had also been found to be in violations by the ADR Ethics Board. But the fact that it was all about having my two other children back made it one of the biggest successful events of my life. Amanda was so detailed, thorough, and very understanding of my entire case. She was also able to help me communicate more effectively with my Ex-wife so that it was more productive as opposed to me only being angry from her constantly being overbearing and trying to control things while I had time with our children. I can't say enough how grateful I am I have Amanda by my side. She is and always will be my family law attorney until my kids turn of legal age. I highly recommend her and would vouch for her should anyone need a reference...
I would recommend Amanda for anyone going through a divorce she walked me through the process step by step answered all my questions in a very timely manner was very flexible in meeting place and times that fit my schedule. She fought for me and was with me during the entire mediation process and follow up was wonderful a year after my divorce was final she continues to follow up and tie up loose ends. Amanda was wonderful was very understanding of my feeling during the process she was recommended by a friend and I have since recommended her and will do so in the future.
How does 50/50 custody sound. That's what Amanda got me and my children. I was victim of false reports of abuse that stuck in court. She overcame the claims. I got everything I asked form to school to child support. She has so much knowledge of the laws and changes and excesses every case and plans with you. I could go on and on about how great my experience was and will continue to use Amanda if needed for my case.
Amanda has always been willing to take the time to listen to issues that have arisen from post divorce hearings or issues. My divorce has been a high conflict situation for most of it but currently is fairly steady thanks to the good counsel I have received from Amanda on several occasions. I had to use her in child support issues post divorce and was able to get a fair settlement on each occasion. She has been very helpful to me and I highly appreciate her service to me and my family.
