About

My practice of family law is distinguished by my unique understanding and compassion for my clients and the issues they face as they wade through the stressful and often unpredictable process of dissolving a marriage. Raised by divorced parents in two different households, I am keenly aware of and sensitive to both the emotional underpinnings as well as the logistical realities of separation, divorce and custody disputes. I listen to my clients, understands their perspectives and help them anticipate issues and identify both their short- and long-term goals. I work closely with my clients to help them develop practical, creative and cost-effective strategies for attaining those goals.I have extensive experience handling all family law issues that arise, from negotiation and drafting of separation agreements, through litigating contested divorce and custody cases. I practice across Maryland and handle complex custody and access disputes, sophisticated property distribution and business valuation issues, alimony and child support matters, post-judgment modification and enforcement cases, domestic violence matters, adoptions, pre- and post-nuptial agreements and appellate advocacy.     I understand that no two cases are the same; there are no successful cookie-cutter approaches in life or in family law. I take my obligation seriously as both an attorney and a counselor at law, and take time to ensure my clients understand their options. I am at my best when guiding my clients through the daily issues of their cases, and when counseling clients as they make important decisions that will have a long-term impact on their and their children's lives. I have been recognized by Maryland Super Lawyers magazine as a Rising Star (2012-2021) and as a Super Lawyer (2022), by Best Lawyers in America (2016-present), by Washingtonian Magazine as a Top Divorce Lawyer (2020, 2021) and by Bethesda Magazine as a Top Divorce Attorney (2019, 2021). I was inducted into the Maryland Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (one of only 38 attorneys in the State of Maryland to be included) in 2020. I believe that lawyers have an obligation to serve their community beyond the practice of law. I am an active member of the Bar Association of Montgomery County, and I'm routinely appointed to leadership positions. Currently, I serve on the Judicial Selections Committee, tasked with vetting and endorsing candidates for the Bench (I have previously served as Vice Chair and Chair); as well as co-chair of the Strategic Planning Committee. In the past, I have served as co-chair of the New Practitioner’s Section; co-chair of the Association’s annual Special Olympics project, the Inspiration Walk; co-chair of the Family Law Section; and co-chair of the Leadership Development Committee. I have been recognized for my service, receiving several awards from the Bar Association. I also serve the community by presenting educational programs regarding separation, divorce and custody around Montgomery County.  I grew up in Frederick County; and in my spare time, I enjoy rooting for the Ravens, cooking and traveling, and spending time with my husband and sons.
