Alisa Yasin helped me with one of the most difficult things in my life, a child custody issue after I returned overseas. I think some lawyers were leery because it was international and had some complicated issues from strong cultural differences, overseas living complexity with many different countries, work conflict, attempts at restraining orders, diverse family relations and even psychological exams and home studies! I was facing a trial and an unknown chaos of what custody would look like in the midst of all of this. I was given an excellent attorney reference to them after struggling for weeks to find a good attorney. I also am myself an attorney. I read Alisa’s reviews and of Zamani and Associates, her firm, and I was impressed, except they said “holistic,” which is normally is very positive. However, my friends and family recommended an “aggressive” attorney because of the difficulties I faced with my ex and inability to stop them. Alisa and Zamani and Associates more than lived up to their reviews! Alisa explained my options clearly, which I thought were not possible. They recommended settlement immediate and indeed settled it quickly as they predicted. I went from a dreaded trial posture and an unlivable living arrangement with my children to obtaining an agreement with a livable arrangement without trial after settlement. What I liked best was their calm demeanor, attention to detail, attempts to follow the client’s wishes balanced with realism and courteous prompt responses from all in their office. I actually knew it was the right office when I first walked in and met Alisa, not to mention her administrative assistant and other staff. I also worked with Ms. Zamani and Alisa’s colleague, Amanda Sow, who also was top notch. Thus, the other attorneys at Alisa’s firm were excellent too. Alisa assisted in relationship management, communications and helped me like no other in minimizing difficult interaction with my former partner at settlement meetings and according to my wishes. I valued her personal skills, contacts with other attorneys, and ability to work well with diverse family members. They were unphased by the international, cultural, complex procedural and family web. They always had a common “it can be solved” demeanor. With Alisa, I did not just engage a strong legal mind, but I gained a well-connected, skilled attorney familiar with DC courts. They are also effective as a firm on critical financial issues in my case. I previously experienced great time delays from other attorneys without receiving needed advice. The firm guided by Ms. Zamani, also handled billing professionally and reasonably. Their rates and billing process were clear, which was previously another big stressor. This really speaks to their integrity, ethical, and quality as a firm. The attorneys worked there together great as a team. Zamani and Associates and especially Alisa brought relief to my children and family, and even the opposing party appears to be happy. My experience shows how positive a “holistic” approach can be and how important it is for family in conflict. My family circumstances may never be totally easy, but the tools that Zamani & Associates gave me, including books on communication and brushoffs from their constructive attitude, really helped my me and my family.
Alisa is professional, thoughtful, strategic, pragmatic, responsive and very experienced in the law and the DC courts. She is also very cognizant of the human impact of the work she does, which I deeply appreciated. Alisa has represented me in a very drawn out and complex custody matter, a protracted divorce case and an administrative hearing. Needless to say, we worked together very closely for more than two years. Alisa expertly prepared a wide range of motions, oppositions and briefs - some of which dealt with relatively obscure legal principles. She delivered excellent oral argument and effective cross-examination, both based on thorough preparation. Alisa does not get distracted by narrative but rather is guided by the facts of the case. Going above and beyond is the standard for Alisa.
Zamani & Associates did a fantastic job representing me in my divorce and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. They walked me through the entire process and assisted with the unique challenges that were associated with my case. From negotiating the marriage settlement agreement, to the divorce hearing, the communication always made me feel like my best interests were at heart. Zamani & Associates comes highly recommended!!!
I had a great experience working with Alisa. I knew that I was in great hands for my custody case from the first meeting: she was quick to get the facts, very knowledgeable about the law, experienced in DC courts and thoughtful in their strategy. She worked at my pace: always available but allowing me to reflect when I needed more time. Alisa was supportive from beginning to end and helped me get through the most difficult time in my life. I highly recommend Zamani & Associates.
Alisa Yasin was indispensable during my child custody case. She was very knowledge, able to keep the big picture in mind, and attentive to details when needed. In spite of a legal process with many unexpected turns and complications, she remained calm, good-humored and even cheerful. Alisa's degree of responsiveness is rarely matched. Once she too care of me during a Saturday night while being on a vacation. Last but not least, Alisa did as much as she could to limit the financial burden of the case. Thanks to Alisa (and her colleagues) I sometimes even enjoyed the unpleasant legal process. Highly recommended without the slightest reservation.
Thoughtful, caring, and very understanding and helped me to keep my wits about me during a very difficult process. Made sure I kept my head tuned into what was a really important and avoided the distractions from the opposing counsel.
Alisa Yasin is a consummate professional. Alisa was patient, attentive and empathic while discussing my case. Alisa is very detailed in her written responses, and knowledgeable about divorce law. She always retuned calls and emails the same day. I appreciated how careful she was to provide me with the maximum service at the minimum necessary billing hours. Alisa is truly a class act and I would not hesitate to recommend or use her again should I ever need a family practice lawyer.
