Hiring Attorney Alicia Chalumeau was the best choice I made to handle my divorce. She is extremely knowledgeable, sharp, caring, respectful, honest and truly looks out for the best interest of her client. Her team (Joyce, Pam, and Evelyn) were a pleasure to work with and were always responsive to emails and phone calls in a timely fashion. Attorney Chaulumeau aggressively countered opposing counsel to ensure that my divorce settlement was very fair and equitable, and that I was not taken advantage of by ex-wife's attorney. Alicia and her team treat you like family and you are always in good hands from start to finish. I highly recommend Alicia Chalumeau for anyone seeking a divorce attorney.
My case is contentious and complex. Alicia and her team have broken it down in the most basic issues. Alicia is highly skilled, fair and straight forward - not to mention aggressive when need be. She has managed my highly contentious divorce professionally and with a level of commitment that is rare. I highly recommend Alicia and her skilled team.
My case has been one of the longest and most “ complicated” of the Stamford / Now New Haven system. Very unfortunately I started with a mediocre ineffective lawyer and then had a lawyer who only cared about racking up fees, never even filed for sole custody which I was ultimately granted during long protracted trial which Attorney #3 who was excellent, championed for with me and other witnesses. Chalumeau is the best family lawyer I’ve experienced personally and observed on other cases at court - in a holistic sense. She is excellent both in and out of court. Sometimes a great in court litigator is terribly uncommunicative outside of court or can’t cant admin and documents to a high standard level. Chalumeau has good support staff, and really shines in that she truly cares about her clients and what is the best outcome for children involved. She’s a straight shooter, fair, honest, does not rack fees up in the least, is respectful of clients needs and efficiencies. There are only a few others I’d highly recommend- but if you’re thinking to hire Chalumeau, you’re in very expert, sharp, caring hands.
Professional, in tacted, precise. I am satisfied with the service we received.
Working with attorney Chalumeau was a refreshing change from others I've worked with in the past. Not only was she on the ball, but she kept me in the loop through it all. And the biggest surprise of all was that she didn't take me to the cleaners. One of the points she advertised to me on my initial FREE consultation was efficiency, and she surely lived up to it. There was no nickel and diming. Finally, an affordable attorney (as far as attorneys can be affordable) who knows her stuff inside and out.
I contacted Alicia to help me with my divorce. According to her it was a simple case because we had no shared property or children and she left me with assurance that I was leaving my divorce in capable, intelligent hands. However, it soon became evident that my case was low priority for her (perhaps because she is a busy person or because it seemed so straightforward to her). I didn't feel like I always knew the next steps or what was going on with my case which was a terrible feeling for me because, even though she assured me it was very easy, I was so scared about the whole process. She was less responsive than I would have liked - often taking several emails to get a reply. Important paperwork was forgotten about or late getting to my ex husband's lawyer. I just didn't get the feeling she cared at all. In the end it became so tedious that my ex and I settled without the lawyers and I just directed her office to file the paperwork. Finally, I had put down a large retainer for her and was told I would be receiving monthly timesheets with how many hours she spent on my case as well as a notification when half of the retainer was used. I never received any of this and assumed that this was because my case was so straightforward she didn't spend a lot of time on it and that I hadn't used much of the retainer. I have contacted her office several times to get the timesheets, invoice, or balance of the retainer back and have heard nothing.
This is the worst attorney that you can get.So aggressive towards own client playing games with other council continuing the case forever .Her technic is always waiting for last minute and going to court for charging for motions and spend entire day in court to get easy money never tried have agreement before hearing .Horrible lawyer and human .
Attorney Chalumeau rarely returned my calls or emails. She was always embarrassingly late to court which cost me $$$. I never thought she was well prepared or cared about me or my case. I found her rude and aggressive. Do not hire her. Skip to the next attorney and do yourself a HUGE favor.
