About
Alexis is a native Rhode Islander, careful listener, seasoned trial attorney and a zealous advocate.She began her legal career in 2000 as an attorney for the New York City Law Department in the Brooklyn Family Court Division. There, she was a prosecuting attorney and investigated and tried numerous felony and misdemeanor Juvenile Delinquency trials. She also served as a supervisor in the division, where she devised protocols and procedures for the prosecution of juvenile delinquents and for Interstate Child Support cases.Following her time at the Law Department, Alexis worked at the New York City Department of Correction, where she acted as in-house counsel for the agency. During this position, she provided legal guidance on Departmental policies and procedures and handled matters initiated against the Department, including claims of Employment Discrimination, Jail Time calculation issues, and claims arising from alleged civil right violations (Section 1983 actions).She returned to Rhode Island in 2011 and later formed the Law Office of Alexis Santoro, LLC.Alexis swims competitively and coaches Age Group and Masters swimmers. She is also actively involved in Swim Across America, which is an organization that holds swim events throughout the country to raise money for cancer research.Education:Alexis is a graduate of Goucher College, where she received a Bachelor Degree of Arts in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice. There, she competed on the varsity swim team and during her senior year, she lead the team as a Captain, was honored as the Most Valuable Player and was nominated for the NCAA Women of the Year award. Alexis attended Albany Law School of Union University, where she was very active in Moot Court (mock trial) competitions and served on the Moot Court Board her senior year.
