About
Alexis Austin is the CEO and Managing Partner of Right Law Group, a Colorado Springs criminal defense law firm she founded in June of 2018.Before founding Right Law Group, Ms. Austin was a Deputy District Attorney in Pueblo and Colorado Springs. She left the D.A.’s office to become a partner in a well-respected criminal defense firm in Colorado Springs. During her time there, she learned what it takes to run a successful law practice. Armed with that knowledge and a desire to start a firm wired for the 21st century, she set out on her own and founded the Right Law Group. Right Law Group has since become one of the top criminal defense firms in Colorado Springs by specializing in enhancing the client's experience through leveraging technology.Ms. Austin has a passion for helping people get back on the right path and work towards bettering their lives. She also believes that clients should be treated as more than case files. They should be able to build a strong relationship and trust with their law firm as they go through the most difficult times in their lives. Ms. Austin has made that philosophy the cornerstone of Right Law Group. Based on her background in cognitive psychology and domestic violence research, Ms. Austin particularly enjoys working with people who are charged with domestic violence or who suffer from PTSD. Her knowledgeable and compassionate approach to helping clients see the light at the end of the tunnel is one of the things people love best about working with her.Not only is Ms. Austin passionate about zealously representing her clients, she also is a dedicated businesswoman. Her leadership and vision have steered the Right Law Group to consecutive years of increased growth and success, but given the state of the current worldwide pandemic, this year’s growth has been the most impressive by far. Since June of 2018, she has grown the business from a single employee (herself) to two full-time attorneys, a full-time paralegal, a full-time legal assistant, two full-time client relations managers, and four other contractors and interns. She has also mentored local entrepreneurial attorneys who have used Ms. Austin’s example and advice to open and grow their own legal enterprises.Like many businesses, the Right Law Group was not immune to the difficulties which resulted from the Coronavirus outbreak of 2020. The local legal community, normally precise and predictable, was suddenly thrown into disarray by courthouse closures, continuances, and ever-updating declarations from the local chief judge and the Colorado Supreme Court. The old way of doing things gave way to video dockets and virtual plea deals. Nothing seemed normal. As the city, state, country, and the world struggled with how to move forward, Right Law Group did not skip a beat because of the technological advances Ms. Austin had already put in place, setting the firm apart from all other traditional law firm models. As the business world cautiously emerges from the pandemic, the Right Law Group is emerging as a sleeker, more technologically savvy, and superior criminal defense firm in southern Colorado. This positive evolution of the firm is due to Ms. Austin’s relentless pursuit of excellence, for herself, her team, and her clients.

Alexis was very helpful in getting my felony and misdemeanor charges reduced to 1 misdemeanor. Kept me from having any jail time and allowing me to get my life back on track. Office staff is very involved and caring and communicated continuously.
I was assigned Alexis as my defense attorney. Her professional attitude and great working relationship with the district attorney allow me to get a great plea bargain. She represented me in the most honest way possible. I appreciate her direct attitude and positive communication.
Ms. Austin was very easy to talk with when I met with her to explain the circumstances involving my DUI. She is well-supported by the excellent team of paralegals in the Liberty Law office, as well as her partner Steve Katzman. I was very nervous and apprehensive about receiving a DUI and not sure at all of how the complex legalities were to play out. Ms. Austin and her staff helped me through every step of things and I always knew ahead of time what had to be done so that I was one step ahead of the system, which helped enormously when I received my sentence from the court. A DUI is not an easy or comfortable experience to work through but the attorneys and staff at Liberty Law will ensure that you are well represented and help you have a plan for successfully solving the legal challenges and getting back to the normalcy of your daily life.
Alexis, as well as, the whole Liberty Law office were nothing short of amazing. Obviously the circumstances of the relationship were not positive but they offered nothing but support and guidance. Not to the mention the outcome of me case was a blessing. Nothing but gratitude Alexis!
My wife and I appreciate Alexis' work on our behalf since she got the charges dropped on us both for non-committed crimes [we were charged with domestic violence against one another when no violence was committed - a call was made to 911 because of a threat of suicide and we both wound up being arrested]. Alexis was great; unfortunately, I cannot make the same claim of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office (specifically, the arresting deputy) and they should be sued for a violation of civil rights and for arresting people when one of them should have seen a medical professional [endangering the life of a potentially suicidal person]. If I had the money to sue them [or could find a lawyer who would take the case pro bono) then I would definitely sue the local sheriff's department for what they did to my wife and I.
Alexis took the time to hear the case and you could tell that her number one concern is making us understand what was going to happen. She never seemed rush and she made sure you knew what was happening at each hearing and making sure she knew all the information before making a report. She was just amazing. She also never made me feel like I had to hire her. She was also able to just give me sound advice without me having to pay a lot of money.
Here is my story: I initially retained this firm to seal 4 specific cases that were coming up on my CBI. When initially talking to the attorney that was going to handle my case, she told me that all 4 were sealable and we shouldn't have any issues. So I said great and made all of the payments(we'll say 500 for each case with a total of 2000) and gave all of the documentation that was requested. She then left the firm and I was passed off to another attorney who immediately said that they can't seal traffic cases because it wasn't allowed(case 1). I was starting to get concerned at this point because one of my cases was a traffic case. So I said okay, lets continue to work on the other 3 cases. One out of the 4 cases was sealed which I was really happy about(case 2). The other two that, according to the new attorney, could be sealed was denied(case 3). This was due to the time allowance per case to make it sealable, meaning I got convicted of a petty offense(case 4) during the time that I wasn't supposed to get any other charges to make case 3 sealable. So at this point, I paid for 4 specific cases to get sealed, but 1 out of the 4 got sealed. I went back and forth with the office on a refund and they sent me 15 percent back in a check. They also explained that they got two other cases sealed(one being a traffic case which I thought couldn't be sealed) and should've been compensated for it but did it out of goodwill. I told them that was nice of them to do that, but my concern was the 4 charges that was listed on my cbi. These other two charges were not even listed on the cbi and I had no idea what they were. They couldn't even provide any info on the cases or anything. So out of paying 500 per case(2000 total), I received a refund for 300 bucks which was not fair. I paid this firm to advise me on what could / could not be sealed and expected that all 4 could be sealed but was not given the right refund amount and the owner made it feel like she was doing me a favor. My suggestion is to make sure you have everything in writing on what to expect, make sure that they do their research on what should/should not happen in terms of outcome(pay the fee for them to do this research) and call around to make sure that you are getting a good deal.
