About

Alanah Griffith is a fifth generation Montanan born and raised in the Four Corners area of Bozeman, Montana. She left Montana for college, but came back to the state after her travels assured her that Montana was her home.  She graduated summa cum laude from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois with a B.A. in Philosophy and Psychology and an honors minor in History of Ideas.  After traveling and working for a few years, Ms. Griffith attended law school at the University of Montana School of Law.  There she was the symposium editor of the Montana Law Review and a member of the award winning Negotiation Team.  She graduated in 2002 with honors. After law school, she was employed by Gallatin County Judge Mark Guenther as his law clerk.  She spent two years in that position.  As many know, Judge Guenther passed away in office after a battle with cancer, leaving Ms. Griffith and his staff to attempt to find judges throughout the state to help with the already bursting legal docket.  In her position, Ms. Griffith worked for 24 different district court judges, learning first hand how judges from around the state each ran their own courtrooms.  She was one of the members of Judge Guenther’s staff who was honored by the Montana Supreme Court for her work during this time. After her clerkship was completed, Ms. Griffith entered private practice. She has a general civil practice and provides both legal and mediation services.  In addition to mediation she currently focuses on the legal areas of contract law, business law (including: organizing various business organizations, purchase and sale of organizations and litigation) real estate law (including real estate development, sales, easements and litigation) construction law, homeowner’s associations, guardianship and conservatorships and adoptions. Ms. Griffith is actively involved in the Montana legal community. She is the past President of the New Lawyers Section.  This section connects new lawyers to their community through community service projects in the schools.  She also is a current member of the Professionalism Committee of the Montana Bar Association.  This committee focuses on promoting professionalism within Montana’s legal community through education.  She also volunteers for many local legal assistance programs including the Community Mediation Center, the Gallatin Legal Assistance Clinic and Gallatin County Justice Court’s Project Settle. When not in the office, Ms. Griffith can be found playing with her husband, her son, a Chocolate lab and two Siberian Huskies.  They play on Montana’s rivers whitewater kayaking and rafting, climbing on some rock, hiking and camping, or in the mountains backcountry skiing.  They also raise chickens, garden and have a couple of horses.  She is currently a Board Member for Reach, Inc., a non-profit corporation serving adults with disabilities by helping them attain their individual goals and aspirations for living life to its fullest.

I was contacted by Alanah in a rude and unprofessional manner right off the bat due to one of her clients wanting something from me (which I do not have legal rights to sign off on in the first place). She stalked me on facebook to discover where I am living and other personal information before contacting me to begin with. She attempted blackmailing me with threats of spreading lies in my local newspaper about me. She stated that she knew that future employers could see the negative article in the news and that it would effect my whole life negatively. It was intentional. I ended up signing the papers so she would stop trying to blackmail me. She is now claiming that the document was not notarized (which it was. I signed at the bank and had it notarized.) and is now resuming her rude, blackmailing tactics for no reason. This has gone on for months.

Ms. Griffith did very sloppy work for my family. We were selling land and she would have spelling mistakes on names, wording mistakes in the contract and didn't do work in a timely manner. We missed two closing dates because of it. She even gave us bad legal advice. She said one person could sign a buy/sell agreement for the rest of us without us giving the person power of attorney to do so. Don't use her.
