About
Adam Justinger recognizes that some of the most difficult times in an individual’s life is when they have been charged with a crime. As a criminal defense attorney for SW&L Attorneys, Adam vigorously defends his clients and strives to get his clients the best possible outcome in their case. What Made Adam Want to Practice Criminal Defense During his first year of law school, Adam was unsure of what area of law he wanted to practice. At the end of his first year, Adam accepted a law clerk position with a criminal defense firm in Grand Forks, North Dakota. During his two years as a law clerk, Adam found his passion doing criminal defense law. After clerking, Adam was hired by SW&L Attorneys to practice in the area of criminal defense and has decided to focus his career on the defense of people accused of crimes. Educational Background Adam attended the University of North Dakota and received a degree in Political Science with a minor in Public Administration. After graduation, Adam enrolled in law school at the University of North Dakota School of Law and earned his law degree in 2018. During law school, Adam was very active. Adam’s greatest passion while in law school was participating in mock cases to perfect his oral advocacy skills. Adam participated in Moot Court during his second and third year of law school. During the internal Moot Court competition, Adam and his team partner received the best brief award. This allowed Adam the opportunity to advance to external Moot Court during his second and third year. During Adam’s second year of law school, Adam traveled to Las Vegas, NV to compete in the Frank A. Schreck Gaming Law Moot Court Competition. During Adam’s third year of law school, he traveled to Saint Paul, MN and competed in the McGee Moot Court Competition. Adam and his team partner advanced to the semifinal round. As a result of his success in Moot Court, Adam was accepted into the Order of the Barristers (awarded for oral advocacy and brief writing skills). Adam joined the the Energy Law Association his first year of law school and became the President during his second and third year. Furthermore, Adam was the secretary of the Student Bar Association during his second year, and the vice president of the organization during his third year. Additionally, Adam was a member of the Criminal Law Association and the Sports Law Association. Personal Background Adam was born and raised in Kimberly, Wisconsin by his mother who taught him the importance of an education. At age five, Adam looked at his mother and told her that he wanted to be an attorney because he enjoyed arguing. Although that has always been Adam’s dream, he began working for his grandparents construction business, which taught him the importance of hardwork, and communication. Even though Adam enjoyed working construction, he never forgot about his goal of becoming an attorney and went on to receive his law degree in 2018. In his spare time, Adam enjoys traveling/spending time with his girlfriend, hunting and fishing, socializing with family and friends, listening to music, and cooking. Hired the attorney for a misdemeanor conviction case. Adam was very knowledgeable about the process and moved swiftly. He also asked me to cooperate with him and told me what to do in order to maximize the chances that the misdemeanor gets concealed. He genuinely wanted the misdemeanor to be sealed. He responds to my emails diligently.
Met Adam Justinger through a line of recommendations that started from my business accountants recommendation for Adam Wogsland at SW&L to become my business attorney. From there, after years of great service. I was then recommended to Adam Justinger for something unrelated. He became my criminal defense Attorny for an attempted wrongful conviction. Mr. Justinger stoped that in its tracks, without any leverage from the judge or prosecutor. This case in my opinion was specifically in line with a direct dereliction of duty and illegal actions taken by the police officers involved with the citations that were issued. One state trooper specifically, Officer Cory Formaneck who again, in my opinion abused the legal obligations and power he was given as a state highway patrol officer in an effort to convict me, no matter how many laws he broke in the process. Again this is of course all in my opinion. However, Adam Justinger stuck by my side even when I had lost all hope and started to sincerely believe that the whole system was corrupt. If an officer said it happened; other officers on scene, prosecutor and even the judge would then likely believe it to be legitimate. I felt very alone in a field of individuals out to take the rest of my life as I knew it away from me for a crime that I did not commit. However he also made it clear that he has no qualms with police officers and that he believes the majority or them are great individuals and it is unlikely that they would be corrupt in his opinion, I think by the end of this. The facts and evidence may have changed his option of at least one of the officers involved. Regardless, at the same time he wasn’t certain of officer F’s legitimate falsification and tampering of evidence at that time (again in my opinion) he was motivated to find out and very supportive. Beyond a basic feeling of obligation by an Attorny to support his client. He really genuinely seemed to care and no matter the time of day, he would always get back to me in short time by email. Either himself or his paralegal Lindsey Anderson made all the facts, good and bad clear without any question as to any of their meaning or relevance, so I wasn’t confused throughout. But also without giving me false hope as well. Helping to prepare me just in case the system pulled another string or curve ball in their favor that we couldn’t anticipate. This was one of the most complicated cases I had ever imagined could possibly have even came about in this area we live in more or less read about or seen in the news. The obstacles set in front of us were made of great quantity, heavy in sent inertia and much proportion. Yet Adam worked diligently to find any possible legal and factual basis to present to the judge on several occasions to dismiss, not budging these were then presented to a jury trial for which I shouldn’t be found guilty. All of it was beyond what I had conceived the possible lengths could have amounted to in doing so. The intricacy of fine details as small as they were; were building blocks none the less. Eventually making a small staircase to walk myself out of the hole I was in. I didn’t/couldn’t fully see how all the puzzle pieces would come together properly until the day of trial. The outcome was nothing short of saving my life. The jury came back as innocent of both charges waged against me. Not only was he able to restore my faith in the legal system, he also found a way to make it known loud and clear while in court in front of everyone, this officers (in my opinion) criminal acts he committed lying under oath, falsifying evidence, and so much more that he conspired to use and false accusations he used to try and destroy my reputation, my livelihood, credit, savings, basically my life as I knew it. The list goes on and on, I will never be able to recommend anyone more highly than Adam Justinger for criminal defense. He saved my life

If it wasn’t for Adam I wouldn’t have my license today. I was about to get charged with what would have been my second DUI. The state of ND was trying to charge me with DUI minor in possession/consumption, it was also not to long after I had just gotten my license back from my previous DUI which would have really sucked for me. I was in search of a good lawyer so I asked around and a good friend of mine had referred Mr.Justinger to me so I gave him a call and he had me come in and speak with him about what had happened. Not to long after speaking with him I knew he was the guy for my case. He answered every question I had, told me exactly what I needed to know and do, he made everything simple and understanding. Long story short Adam went above and beyond and got it all down to a reckless driving and a deferred minor meaning if I stay law abiding until I’m 21 the minor will be dismissed and then I will only have a reckless driving on my record. I was amazed with Justinger’s work and would highly recommend his services to anyone.
